THE RIVER

~~~*Chorus*~~~
My laughter is thee echoes
Off the cliff so raw and cold
The mist above the water
Is my ever-searching soul
The raging of the river
Is my life out of control
I thought I needed you
To make me whole
~~*~~
You were always smiling
With no laughter in your eyes
As I was pulled down stream
No one to hear my cries
Sometimes this river pools
And I catch a glimpse of me
Then you force me through the rapids
And I’m too afraid to breathe
I know the falls are up ahead
I’m fighting for the shore
I must beat this hateful river
I can’t take it anymore
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~

My laughter is thee echoes
Off the cliff so raw and cold
The mist above the water
Is my ever-searching soul
The raging of the river
Is my life out of control
I thought I needed you
To make me whole
~~*~~

Another night is falling

You’re the shadows in the trees
I am praying for a rescue
Only God can hear my pleas

Suddenly the river stills

And strength returns to me
I am swimming for the bank
And you’re nowhere to be seen

With my mind and body broken

I somehow made it to the shore
Now I know that I can make it
I don’t need you anymore

Yes I beat that hateful river

With God I’m not alone
And I thought I needed you
To make me whole

~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
My laughter was thee echoes
Off the cliff so raw and cold
The mist above the water
Was my ever-searching soul
The raging of the river
Was my life out of control
I only needed God
To make me whole
~~*~~
