PARTIED UP

She walked in like she was possessed
Asked, Why's our house such a total wreck
You're partying with "Blackjack Billy" again
Yeah...

Our neighbors sent a text to me
Said you'd invited "Parmalee"
Didn't you listen to a single word they sang
They have a video recording the whole danged thing

I guess since their place has been trashed
You decided to compete with that
I swear I almost fainted when I looked around
Might as well burn it down

We are done, let's not pretend
Your partying ways will ever end
Clear out of here
And don't forget your friends

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I said hey girl why ruin the fun
You're supposed to party when you're young
When you get old
That's when you've had enough
Come on let's join our guests and get partied up
There's nothing broken that can't be fixed
Shake off the boring and try to live
Don't hit me with that splitting stuff
You'll feel better once you've partied up
Yeah... Partied up
~~*~~
Well...
I talked to Rob, Noll, and Brad
Told them about the fit she had
We found Barry behind the fridge
And Jeff in someone's truck
Josh hollered from the rafters
Said he was stuck
Still partied up
Located Scott behind the drums
But we couldn't wake him none
Pat was passed out in the tub
So we continued our body hunt
Weaving through the people
Still partied up
Brad yelled
Hey there's Matt
On the diving board
Flat on his back
With a bunch of girls in the pool
Trying to pull him in
I said a little prayer for him
Thought...
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
Why's my girl gotta ruin the fun
You're supposed to party when you're young
When you get old
That's when you've had enough
I just want to play, and sing, and get partied up
Nothing gets broken that can't be fixed
Gotta show her how it feels to live
She'll forget about that splitting stuff
Once we get her partied up
Yeah...Partied up
~~*~~

I said Honey they can't leave
You see that safe there's full of keys
Scott swallowed the combination
When the place got packed
I tried to memorize it
But I got sidetracked
She finally laughed...

~~~*3rd Chorus*~~~
She said alright, let's have some fun
You're supposed to party when you're young
When you get old
That's when you've had enough
Let's go join our guests and get partied up
There's nothing broken that can't be fixed
I'm with you babe, show me how to live
Sorry about that splitting stuff
I'll forgive you once I've partied up
Yeah...Partied up
~~*~~
OMAHA
They said a young lady
Came here from Omaha
She bought old Bill's homestead
A cabin of mud and logs
It sits on eighty acres
Of gorgeous mountain land
Made me sad to think it had
Fallen into the wrong hands
I had to see for myself
Decided to take a hike
Up to that old cabin
To see what she was like
I got to where the road ends
From there I went on foot
Nature clean and perfect
Any way I chose to look
There was a vision
Sitting on the steps
Of that run down cabin
That I will not forget
~~~*Chorus*~~~
She swept me right off my feet
Mesmerized
I could feel the heat
Seeping in, and sinking deep
I swear I felt it burning in my bones
I wanted this enchantress for my own
It was primal, hot, and raw
I locked eyes with Omaha
She came to me like a river when it falls
And shatters on the rocks
As it collides
No boundaries confined
Defying every law
Omaha
~~*~~

Holding hands in the high grass
Soaking up the here and now
We walked into the cabin
That seemed like a mansion now

For twenty years I have breathed
Turned every girl away
Just one look from Omaha
Is all it took to stay

~~~*Chorus*~~~
She swept me right off my feet
Mesmerized
I could feel the heat
Seeping in, and sinking deep
I swear I felt it burning in my bones
I wanted this enchantress for my own
It was primal, hot, and raw
I locked eyes with Omaha
She came to me like a river when it falls
And shatters on the rocks
As it collides
No boundaries confined
Defying every law
Omaha
~~*~~
I guess that I went missing
Got a visit from the law
He said I understand boy
Once he saw Omaha
My friends and family met me
Monday morning, on the job
I said for years it was yours
Now my heart is Omahas
Everyone was hollering
My Mama just shoved them back
Said come home when you can Son
And bring your other half
Mamas know their baby boys
Every quality and flaw
She saw a new light burning
And knew it was Omaha
~~~*Chorus*~~~
She swept me right off my feet
Mesmerized
I could feel the heat
Seeping in, and sinking deep
I swear I felt it burning in my bones
I wanted this enchantress for my own
It was primal, hot, and raw
I locked eyes with Omaha
She came to me like a river when it falls
And shatters on the rocks
As it collides
No boundaries confined
Defying every law
Omaha

IT'S SWEET... RELEASE

My heart is clear and open
But my mind is packed full
I just can't believe that
You kept my life so dulled
I thought that I loved you
And didn't want to leave
Confused beyond reason
That when I did...
I could breathe

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Now I know what chains feel like
Confinement made me weak
I'm unbound and delivered
Enlightened
Ah...
It's sweet...
Release
~~*~~
I was bone weary...so tired
Those endless flights of stairs
No elevator rides
Miles of winding roads
I walked them day and night
Always such a dreamer
Waiting on the hopeless ride
Pushing on invisible doors
They aren't locked against me
Anymore
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Now I know what chains feel like
Confinement made me weak
I'm unbound and delivered
Enlightened
Yeah free
Ah...
It's sweet...
Release
~~*~~

My heart has been pardoned
I finally comprehend
The walls of your prison
Would have crushed me in the end
I applaud my good fortune
Am thankful for the break
So exhilarating
This blessing
Some call fate

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Now I know what chains feel like
Confinement made me weak
I'm unbound and delivered
Enlightened
Yeah free
Ah...
It's sweet...
Release
~~*~~
LAUGH
Some folks run for cover
When skies open for the rain
You dance in it, like you've lost your mind
Most people skirt the puddles
When they're walking down a road
You stomp right through them every time
My Daddy, he can't help but frown
Every time you come around
Saying you still act just like a kid
He can't believe, that it's true,
How hard I fell in love with you
But, with laughter as the lure, I sure did
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Laugh...
Open up your heart
And let it flow
Think of the blessings bestowed
Now go...
Choose yourself a path
Throw your head back
And laugh...
Yeah Laugh!
~~*~~

So many people are depressed
No sense of humor
They would rather be sad, or mad, or both

There's nothing to explain
They whine, gripe, and complain
Try to drag you down if you get close

Well, I have no time for that
Call me callous, or a rat
I'd rather be with you, and that's a fact

Somehow I'll deal with Daddy, and the aftermath
Just be the man I love, who loves to laugh

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Laugh...
Open up your heart
And let it flow
Think of the blessings bestowed
Now go...
Choose yourself a path
Throw your head back
And laugh...
Yeah Laugh!
~~*~~
~~~*Repeat*~~~

YOU'RE DIVINE

How do you comfort those savage souls
When you're such a generous one
You sympathize with strangers
When an unfair deed is done

Offer your hand, to a forlorn man
Your heart to a needy child
Use your life, pure sacrifice
And still wear a tender smile

~~~*Chorus*~~~
How do you do this
Make us sense that we are blessed
See the vein of gold in the darkest mine
When the fare is dull you make the empty full
And you shine...
You're Divine
~~*~~
Why do you bother to bring pleasure
To the negative out there
When every other person
Thinks they're just a waste of air
Alleviate the deep drive to hate
The distasteful in our lives
Disgust turns to empathy
A puppeteer of our minds
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
The words you weave make us all believe
That we can be crucial too
Like rain on the barren plains
In attempts to mirror you
Your a burning magnet of sweet life
You're the fire and we're the smoke
No doubts that you are devout
For resurrection of hope

~~~*Chorus*~~~
How do you do this
Make us sense that we are blessed
See the vein of gold in the darkest mine
When the fare is dull you make the empty full
And you shine...
You're Divine
WHAT IF
A little girl gave me a Bible
Outside the store today
I asked how much she wanted
She said you don't have to pay
Just Pray...
I said you sure look nice
In your pretty dress
She wouldn't be distracted
Stepped forward to request
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Will you pray for the Children of the world
Pray that their lives will leave behind one special gift
I know that some don't believe
That Jesus lived and died for thee
But what if
What if
~~*~~

I put down my groceries
And held her little hands
We bowed our heads
And her sweet voice began

I repeated her prayer
She looked up at its end
Shocked that I was shaken
As we whispered our Amen

~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
We prayed for the people of the world
Prayed that nice folks like me, would open up their eyes and see
We all need to come together as one
She smiled at me, and blew the sky a kiss
And I thought what if
What if...
I told everyone when I got to work
About her precious prayer
They all took each other's hands
Then asked me if I would share
~~~*Finale*~~~
So we prayed for the people of this world
Prayed that nice folks like u,s would open up and finally trust
We will all be together after this
We just have to believe that Jesus does exist
Because what if
What if

A MARINE

Their last day together
Still haunted him
Tears rushing from her eyes
Hair blowing in the wind

The way she collapsed
Into her Daddy's arms
Made him sick with hurt
As he left the farm

~~~*Chorus*~~~
He had a drive to do the right thing
Keep his Country free
He left home a farm boy
They made him a Marine
~~*~~
It's a life for a Man
No more Country Boy
Iraq his destination
When he was deployed
He slid her pretty picture
Deep in his pack
With a letter in case
He didn't make it back
Where he grew up
He trusted everyone
Now he couldn't be sure
Who the enemy was
But he had nine men
To protect his back
And he would die for them
If it came down to that
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
"Semper Fidelis" is a Latin phrase
"Always Faithful" or "Loyal"
It's defined both ways
If fighting didn't claim him
And he made it home
She'd have a true Marine
To always call her own
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
He had a drive to do the right thing
Keep his Country free
He left home a farm boy
They made him a Marine
~~*~~
He died fighting for us
Safe here in the States
Lived through years of Hell
Made sure it stayed that way
The letter said, "Do not weep for me
Live the life I died for, but remember me
I always loved you, will forever be...
 A Marine"
I NEED TO CRY
You call me cold
Say that I can't feel
You're treating me like
It's the truth
These claims
Are so unreal
Must I
Defend myself to you
Why be so cruel
You want to know
If you let me go
Would it even matter
To me
So absurd
I can't believe
How much I love you
Doesn't show
You're letting go
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I can hear violent waves
Crashing in my ears
But I am nowhere near the sea
Lights are flashing in my eyes
And there's a weight that's bearing down on me
Impressive don't you think
That feeling
Is a part of me
~~*~~

I need to cry
Bear the need to scream
My heart's requesting a release
I'm faltering it seems
This goodbye
Is the twisted kind
Oh...
I need to cry

I have to leave
Walk away, then run
I really must get out of here
Feel fresh air in my lungs
So hard to actually Breathe
Oh...
I have to leave

Now it's your turn
You explain it please
Why you blame
Your escape on me
Can't face reality
You wove yourself
Into my life
I need to cry

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
You are a coward
You're the ultimate low
Why don't you just admit it
Tell me the truth before I go
I have trusted you for years
It's clear to me
You just want a goodbye...
And so you lie
I need to cry
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I can hear violent waves
Crashing in my ears
But I am nowhere near the sea
Lights are flashing in my eyes
And there's a weight that's bearing down on me
Impressive don't you think
That feeling
Is a part of me

RULE BENDING

The Good Book says to always love your neighbor
And for the first time my Daddy can't agree
In fact there was a fight
That broke out on Sunday night
When he caught the handsome neighbor kissing me

We were afraid to hold hands at the bus stop
My Daddy started graveyard shifts last week
And when it comes to something he's concerned with
I would swear he is a man that doesn't sleep

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Everyone has rules
They try hard to stick to
That we are not permitted to offend
My Daddy knows his Bible
But my Daddy loves his girls
From
The beginning
To Amen
Yeah, I put my dear sweet Daddy in a bend
~~*~~
Now...we are not allowed to lie for nothing
Daddy said he would not support us if we did
When my Aunt asked us all to come for Christmas
I called my dear sweet Daddy on his fib
He told me he was scared of her cooking
And swore she tried to poison him at times
I smiled as he called back his Sister
To invite her to join us Christmastime
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
Everyone has rules
They try hard to stick to
That we are not permitted to offend
My Daddy knows his Bible \
But my Daddy loves his food
From
The beginning
To Amen
Yeah, I caught my dear sweet Daddy in a bend
~~*~~

Daddy stresses that we honor commitments
And I said that I would babysit one night
When they called and said
They'd invited friends
Instead of just their Daughter, I'd have five

Daddy took the phone, and said I was staying home
That wasn't the agreement, sorry friends
Love when the simple truth
Comes to rescue you
And not a single rule was bent...

~~~*3rd Chorus*~~~
Everyone has rules
They try hard to stick to
That we are not permitted to offend
My Daddy knows his Bible
And my Daddy knows what's fair
From
The beginning
To Amen
It is hard to catch my Daddy in a bend
UNITY
If you disagree with your Sister
On the way she disciplines her kids
If you don't like the way your Brother
Goes hunting like your Daddy did
If your Mother's fur coat offends you
And your Grandpa's old car's not" green"
Do you sit there and degrade them
Do you treat them like an enemy
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Stop and think
Before you speak
Discrimination needs a healthy rein
Weigh your own family
Before you open up your mouth again
Get off of the platform
Because your opinion's mud
Unless your past is clear as glass
You'll be just a fool who was...
~~*~~

Many people will agree with you
And the rest would surely side with me
But United States of America
Can you define UNITY

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Stop and think
Before you speak
Discrimination needs a healthy rein
Weigh your own family
Before you open up your mouth again
Get off of the platform
Because your opinion's mud
Unless your past is smooth as glass
You'll be just a fool who was...
~~*~~
~~~*Finale*~~~
We fight over everything
Ram each other at every turn
If you're not taught with love and patience
How, on earth, are you supposed to learn
It's ALLIED, INTEGRATED,
LINKED TOGETHER AS ONE
The definition of UNITY
It's certainly worth looking up!

TINY ANGELS

They're the tiny little dew drops
The light's reflecting off
Making shiny perfect diamonds
On the leaves they rest upon

They're the cascading waters
Emitting rainbow hues
Everything that's beautiful
The Children that we lose

~~~*Chorus*~~~
There's no pain that digs deeper than loss
You've never doubted the Good Lord before
The smiles, the laughter, that little hand in yours
Nothing makes sense anymore
You stand there by the grave
Cry at the stone
But your Tiny Little Angel
Your Tiny Angel's flown
~~*~~
They're the perfect little pine cones
That hug the limbs of trees
Every golden headdress
That tops a stalk of wheat
They're the stars burning their way through
The darkness of the night
They are nature's greatest gifts
Presented in our lives
~~~*Chorus*~~~
There's no pain that digs deeper than loss
You've never doubted the Good Lord before
The Smiles, the laughter, that little hand in yours
Nothing makes sense anymore
You stand there by the grave
Cry at the stone
But your Tiny Little Angel
Your Tiny Angel's flown
~~*~~

I pray
When you glimpse perfection
It gently helps your hearts to mend
Until those * Tiny Angels*
Are in your arms again

FOR A CHANGE

A ravishing girl
Came over from France
An indentured servant
Just praying for a chance

To live in this Country
And work herself free
But she was an immigrant
In 1873

So envy bred contempt
Prejudice raised scorn
From faith and innocence
A desperate life was born

~~~*Chorus*~~~
We all labor to find hope
When wading through the hate
Avoiding vile creatures
That siphon dreams away
Some sacrifice it all
To this day
To be treated like a human
For a change
~~*~~
A handsome young man
Was drafted to fight
Forced into nightmares
To follow him through life
Was lucky to survive
But scarred to the bone
Treated like an enemy
From the day he came home
Ignorance raised protest
Aimed at the wrong men
They realize it now
But they sure didn't then
~~~*Chorus*~~~
We all labor to find hope
When wading through the hate
Avoiding vile creatures
That siphon dreams away
Some sacrifice it all
To this day
To be treated like a human
For a change
~~*~~

He had younger Sisters
They were lambs in his care
So afraid he'd lose them
That he acted in despair

One fell to the desert
He shadowed his regrets
Once they crossed the border
They'd stop to mourn her death

He was their best worker
But drew the lowest pay
They knew he was illegal
The greedy have no shame

~~~*Chorus*~~~
We must labor to find hope
When wading through the hate
Avoiding vile creatures
That siphon dreams away
Some sacrifice it all
To this day
To be treated like a human
For a change
~~*~~
FREE
Free was a vagrant living off the streets
With his crack-head Mother, who named him Free
He grew up blaming fate, life wasn't fair
That his genetic genes are what held him there
He hung out with the hobos near the underpass
Where twelve years before, his Mama met his Dad
He would study the features of every face
Then swallowing anguish, he would walk away
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Well the alley was crowded one vicious night
And something in Free rose up to fight
He stuffed his things into a dirty pack
Decided that his name would mean just that
God it's me...
Free...
Deliver me...
~~*~~

He made it to the highway, was sent some luck
A hard working family man picked him up
It was the first time Free had seen his Mama cry
As she signed the papers giving him a life

He'd never been to school, but was smart enough
And his two new Brothers, helped to catch him up
Graduated with honors, went into Art
Painted his memories, from a haunted heart

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Well, the gallery was packed, one awesome night
And something in Free, rose up with pride
He reveled in it, then shoved it back
Knowing that he'd always had God to thank
Said, it's me...
Free...
You know I see...
~~*~~
He painted all the hobos from the streets
His portraits of children made his patrons weep
It was not long before, he was acclaimed
Master of the homeless, with a fitting name
His Parents and Brothers went with him to scout
The streets and the alleys, helping vagrants out
And every time a child would hold his hand
He'd say Thank You Lord, I truly understand
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
Well, the shelter was quiet one Friday night
And something in Free tore loose and cried
He remembered, as a child, how he'd lacked faith
So humbled now, he'd turned out this way
God it's me...
Free...
Thanks for blessing me...

NEW RULES APPLY

I'm heading to the "Uptown"
For some drinks and tunes
There's no time like the present
To get over you

The last time that you left me
I sat home and cried
Exactly what you wanted
You were satisfied

~~~*1st Chorus*~~~
So now you say...
Let's go our separate ways
And wait for me to cry
Well, this wish won't come true
I'm not some blinded youth
New Rules Apply
~~*~~
You Remember......
That simple little girl
Found out love's not true
Was brought to her knees
Shaken and confused
You were listing virtues
She would always lack
So she thought she was lucky
When you took her back
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
So now you say...
Let's go our separate ways
And wait for me to die
Well, this wish won't come true
I'm not some blinded youth
New Rules Apply
~~*~~

I made it to the "Uptown"
Asked some guy to dance
You came out on the floor
Begging for a chance

I don't believe a word
It's just poetry
Your coldness exploded
And slammed into me

~~~*Finale*~~~
Yeah now I say...
Let's go our separate ways
And I kiss you goodbye
So my dreams can come true
The ones that won't with you
New Rules Apply
~~*~~
WAR ANGEL
Lacy curtains blowing in the breeze
An empty bedroom holding memories
Suitcases are waiting by the door
She's done this
Yeah she's done this
Done this all before
Followed him to three different bases
Two distant Countries, she wouldn't think to stay
A new house,  fresh paint, and scrubbed floors
She's done this
Yeah she's done this
Done this all before
~~~*Chorus*~~~
She'd go anywhere
Do anything
To be with him
She'd leave it all
Without a thought
Walk, crawl, or swim
She's loyalty
Pure faithful Love
The meaning of
Devotional
War Angel
~~*~~

A servant to his Country, then his home
There are times when she has to be alone
He can focus on the war that needs won
Knowing that she'll be there when he's done
Her Family's always calling on the phone
Advising her to wait for him at home
She explains to them all...one more time
She's his Wife
He's her Home...
Her Life....

~~~*Chorus*~~~
She' go anywhere
Do anything
To be with him
She'd leave it all
Without a thought
Walk, crawl, or swim
She's loyalty
Pure Faithful Love
The meaning of
Devotional
War Angel
CHAPTER ONE
There's a story
Dancing of hands
Across his body
That I keep reading back
I'd betray you
With each recall
You say it's over
But it's not at all
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I know it's bad...to keep dragging back...that once upon a time
But that story never ended in my mind
I can't begin a new one...when this one isn't done
I've never gotten over chapter one
Please let me read my story...I'm just getting to the fun
Leave me alone...I'm on chapter one
~~*~~

There's a chapter
Obsession and pain
I keep approaching
Again and again

I stop the story
Slam the novel shut
Then start it over
Turn to chapter one

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I know it's bad...to keep dragging back...that once upon a time
But that story never ended in my mind
I can't begin a new one...when this one isn't done
I've never gotten over chapter one
Please let me read my story...I'm just getting to the fun
Leave me alone...I'm on chapter one
~~*~~
Introduction
When she falls in love
He just pretended
But she believed enough
He was perfect
So she had no clue
The real deception
Begins in chapter two
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
The heart rejects that chapter, I don't want to feel her pain
I want the once upon a time, so I read it again
The deepest love
Chapter one
~~*~~

Don't bother me
I already know
It's my last story
Because I can't let go

Now go away
Yes, I need you gone
Time for me to read
I'm starting chapter one

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I know it's bad...to keep dragging back...that once upon a time
But that story never ended in my mind
I can't begin a new one...when this one isn't done
I've never gotten over chapter one
Please let me read my story...I'm just getting to the fun
Leave me alone...I'm on chapter one
