THE FOG CAME ROLLING IN

It was a brilliant… sunny day
The preacher man… was on his way
All their friends… showed up in droves
Dressed in their finest… Sunday clothes

Lavender…soft on the wind
Not too strong… but just a hint
Laughter filled… the sweet clean air
He placed a red… rose in her hair

He winked at her…she smiled at him
That’s when the fog… came rolling in

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Oh man that fog…came rolling in
From out of nowhere…thick as sin
Ominous warnings…in its depths
Run like hell girl…don’t marry death
That man is poison…fatal to you
He won’t be loyal…can’t tell the truth
You won’t know the sun girl…if you marry him
That’s why the fog…came rolling in
~~*~~
They all shook their heads… dazed and confused
The whispers started…and carried through
Then came the shadow …of the preacher man
A weathered Bible… clutched in his hands
He looked right at her…but traveled on
And just like that …the fog was gone
~~~~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~~~~
They still tell stories…of that day
Pure as Heaven…she ran away
How he married…some child of sin
And the howl’s her crying…upon the wind

~~~*Chorus*~~~
And how that fog…came rolling in
From out of nowhere…thick as sin
Ominous warnings…in its depths
Run like hell girl…don’t marry death
That man is poison…fatal to you
He won’t be loyal…can’t tell the truth
You won’t know the sun girl…if you marry him
Thank God the fog…came rolling in
~~*~~
