SOUL FIND

I feel like that sun burning up the horizon
I could render the Pacific dry
The terrified mouse on the barren prairie
Eluding a hawk up in the sky

The family at the airport in New York City
Awaiting their Soldier coming home
Racing my car along deserted highways
Ignoring the posted traffic zones

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Oh yeah, it’s heat
And fear
It’s elation through tears
It’s taking a little risk
When the blood in your veins
Flows a different way
You feel things
You didn't know exist
When your heart stops
In time
It’s a Soul Find
~~*~~
I feel like the fuse burning up to the mountain
Finding it's way to dynamite
The phone that rings at two in the morning
Praying every thing's alright
It's a first time Daddy waiting for the new baby
To be placed into his shaking hands
And skinny dipping in the middle of the day
In the pond on her Daddy’s land
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
When every emotion the Good Lord gave you
Finally shakes you to the very core
When you can't control the laughter within you
And there isn't room for one thing more
When the blood is rushing through the veins in your body
And you've never felt a touch so fine....
Every minute apart you're thinking about them
Makes you feel like you have lost your mind
Greatest thing in life....
Is a soul find
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Oh yeah, it’s heat
And fear
It’s elation through tears
It’s taking a little risk
When the blood in your veins
Flows a different way
You feel things
You didn't know exist
When your heart stops
In time
It’s a Soul Find
~~*~~
DOWN BY THE WILLOWS
You know…
I really thought that I would die when you did
And a broken heart from love is not the same
You can always put behind you bad decisions
But to never hear your voice or call your name…
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I can’t do this
Sometimes when I’m alone
And think about you
I don’t care if I live on
And then the sun shines
Or a fragrant wind blows
I look for you
Down by the willows
~~*~~

Your Mother came to stay the day they told us
In her eyes…the reflection of my pain
We've shared our special memories of you
But my sweetest ones I’ll never share again

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I can’t do this
Sometimes when I’m alone
And think about you
I don’t care if I live on
And then the sun shines
Or a fragrant wind blows
I look for you
Down by the willows
~~*~~
Charlie called to see how I was doing
When he said your name I hung up the phone
Then cried because I know I can’t blame Charlie
                    I should be thankful that he made it home                         But…
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I can't do this
Sometimes when I'm alone
And think about you
I don't care if I live on
And then the sun shines
Or a fragrant wind blows
I look for you
Down by the willows
~~*~~

Today I laughed at some kids, down by the river
They were trying to sneak a kiss, while with their Moms
It was such a new emotion for me
On the river's edge, I made my peace with God

~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
I can do this
Just close my eyes and breathe
I think about you
All that you would want for me
And then the sun shines
My heart already knows
You are with me
Down by the willows
EVERYONE'S NOT ME
Everyone says he’s crazy
They've labeled me insane
Everyone says there’s trouble
Running through his veins
Everyone’s tried to warn me
But I want him so bad
And nothing’s going to keep me
From that bad-blooded man
~~~*Chorus*~~~
No…
Everyone can’t hear
My heart as it goes wild
When his eyes find mine
And he growls before he smiles
He’s like molded steel
Hot to the touch
Ahhh …
When he’s walking towards me
Lord, I want him so much
His passion and his laughter
They have no boundaries
Yes…
I want him
Everyone’s not me
~~*~~

Everyone says he’ll use me
And then will give me up
Gasp when I smile and tell them
That I just can’t get enough

He makes me feel so much alive
Yeah, sets my body on fire
When I think I've reached the top
He lifts me even higher

Everyone just stares at me
Everyone shakes their head
I don’t think a one of them
Heard a single word I said

~~~*Chorus*~~~
No…
Everyone can’t hear
My heart as it goes wild
When his eyes find mine
And he growls before he smiles
He’s like molded steel
Hot to the touch
Ahhh …
When he’s walking towards me
Lord, I want him so much
His passion and his laughter
They have no boundaries
Yes...
I want him
Everyone's not me
~~*~~
Everyone’s trying to stop me
Before it is too late
But hunger leads me to him
And we make our escape
I've never felt so free before
Or so misunderstood
Now everyone can whisper
About the bad that’s in my blood
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Oh……
Everyone can’t hear
My heart as it goes wild
When his eyes find mine
And he growls before he smiles
He’s like molded steel
Hot to the touch
Ahhh …
When he’s walking towards me
Lord, I want him so much
His passion and his laughter
They have no boundaries
Yes...
I want him
Everyone's not me
~~*~~

APPARITION

She was out beneath the weeping cherry tree
Head bowed low praying on her knees
When I heard her crying I stopped right there
A victim of its echoes on the evening air

Averting my eyes like a gentleman
I lowered my head with my hat in hand
Felt the onset of a light fall rain
I called upon the Lord to come and ease the pain

When I looked up she was already gone
Sorrow drifted through me as my hat went on
Tears and rain collided as I turned to go
She was an apparition for a broken soul

~~~*Chorus*~~~
My friends kept saying time would heal my pain
I had to bust away before I went insane
There’s only so much patience in a grieving man
And if they haven’t lived it they can’t understand
When you’re destined for forever you are as one
A half of a whole will always come undone
They said there is no way you can defeat death
I took my pretty apparition, bought a farm, and left
~~*~~
She was singing to the baby by the garden gate
I was running towards them just to touch his face
Almost there came the truth I’d feared
You can’t approach an apparition or it disappears
I savor the evenings when she comes to me
I can hold her like I’m meant to in my sweetest dreams
I greet the early morning with a thank you prayer
Smile at the apparition in the rocking chair
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
You can call me crazy it won’t bother me
I don’t care if you can’t visualize the things I see
Only God knows the reason he took them away
An apparition is my minds way to let them stay
~~*~~

~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
You can try to convince me time will heal my pain
That won’t truly happen till we’re whole again
There’s only one solution for this grieving man
If you haven’t lived it you won’t understand
When you’re destined for forever you are as one
A half of a whole will always come undone
So I create an apparition when my heart does bleed
Defeat death and keep them here with me
~~*~~
~~*Finale*~~
You can call me crazy
It won’t bother me
I don’t care if you can’t visualize
The things I see
Only God knows the reason
He took them away
An apparition is my minds way
To let them stay
~~*~~
BRUSH THE VEIL ASIDE
We’re taught to be strong when we’re children
You fall down and you’re told to get up
Someone calls you names
You just walk away
Until you have had enough
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Brush the veil aside
I feel pain sometimes
Tears of devastation
Raining from my eyes
You think you can’t hurt me
Here’s a word to the wise
I am only human
Brush the veil aside
~~*~~

Whispers and stares in the hallway
Being alone and left out
Once knowing you’re smarter and better
Now feeling the millstone of doubt

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Brush the veil aside
I feel pain sometimes
Tears of devastation
Raining from my eyes
You think you can’t hurt me
Here’s a word to the wise
I am only human
Brush the veil aside
~~*~~
Ahhh…to love and cherish
Reservations are put to rest
Then you die deep inside
From the hurt you can’t hide
He’s consumed the you that was left
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Brush the veil aside
I feel pain sometimes
Tears of devastation
Raining from my eyes
You think you can’t hurt me
Here’s a word to the wise
I am only human
Brush the veil aside
~~*~~

ANGELS IN CAMOUFLAGE

Everyone’s heard stories
Of the horrors of war
And yet you have to question
Just what we’re fighting for

Imagine waking up
Every day
Not knowing what injustice
You may face

To watch your Mother beaten
Or your Father shot before your eyes
Brothers and Sisters
Tortured and terrorized

~~~*Chorus*~~~
You know we’re all in this together
To fight evil, greed, and hate
America fights for those in need
Because we have what it takes
When destruction’s coming at them
They bow their heads to God
And He sends them His finest
Angels in camouflage
~~*~~
When our Country was attacked
We got just a taste
Of what it’s like for them
Every waking day
There are many families there
Who love just like we do
And they pray to the same
God in Heaven we pray to
Our Heroes fight for justice
Under the red, white, and the blue
Trying to make a difference
Like they know God wants them to
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Stop undermining freedom
Stand up for the cause
Support our courageous Heroes
Angels in Camouflage
And for the brave we lose there
Help their families out
We are all in this together
Don't leave them room for doubt
~~*~~

~~*Final Chorus*~~
Yes, we are all in this together
To fight evil, greed, and hate
America fights for those in need
Because we have what it takes
When destruction’s coming at them
They bow their heads to God
And He sends them His finest
Angels in camouflage
~~*~~

#NeverForgotten

BOUNDLESS

How many times can you be betrayed
Keep on falling just to rise
How many times do you start again
While wiping the tears from your eyes

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Boundless
Scream it loud and strong
Boundless
I’m forever holding on
You can’t beat me
Because I don’t want you to
My power’s boundless
Do what you have to do
 ~~*~~
How many times do you have to pray
That they’ll let you get on with your life
How many times do you thank the Lord
For the strength given you to survive
~~~*Chorus*~~~

Boundless
Scream it loud and strong
Boundless
I’m forever holding on
You can’t beat me
Because I don’t want you to
My power’s boundless
Do what you have to do
  ~~*~~

Get up and walk off the betrayals
Master repair of a broken heart
Hang on to Gods’ hand as you rise up
And you’re boundless right from the start

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Boundless
Scream it loud and strong
Boundless
I’m forever holding on
You can’t beat me
Because I don’t want you to
My power’s boundless
Do what you have to do
BECAUSE MY HEART'S NOT MADE OF STONE
Have you ever seen a break in the clouds
Where the sun is shining right on through
And the beams are coming down
Like God’s reaching out to you
Have you ever just closed your eyes
With a smile of wonder on your lips
To capture the setting sun
Have you thanked God for creating this
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Well I have…I always do
I thank Him for every miracle
And dreams that have come true
Though every day I wake up
And I am all alone
I thank Him
Because my heart’s not
Made of stone
~~*~~

I look into the mirror
My smile fades away
Sorrow tries to take its hold
Reality invades that way

How could he paint such beauty
To witness in the sky
And then let me be born to be
So unpleasing to the eye

~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
And yet I thank Him…I always do
I thank Him for every miracle
And even prayers that don’t come true
Though every day I wake up
And I am all alone
I thank Him
Because my heart’s not
 Made of stone
~~*~~
I see impressive beauties
Everyday, and everywhere I go
They are every mans desire
The filling bread to a hungry soul
Sometimes I bite back jealousy
And then smile because they’re blessed
They come to me with heartaches
When they've made their life a mess
 ~~~3rd Chorus*~~~
And I help them...I always do
Open up my Bible
Quote his Word to see them through
When their life's in order
They leave me all alone
Yet I thank Him
Because my heart's not
Made of stone
~~*~~

When I die and go to Heaven
I’ll leave this body here behind on earth
With bitter lies and betrayals
Empty promises and crushing hurts

Until then you may ignore me
Not see the good I have within
And I will keep on trying
To make the superficial notice Him

~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
Until then I’ll thank Him…
Like I always do
I’ll thank Him for every miracle…
And I’ll thank Him for you
I will thank Him …
Until He calls me home
And I will pray for you…
Because my heart’s not
Made of stone…
~~*~~
DANDELION
~~~*Chorus*~~~
She handed me a wilted dandelion
Like it was a rose
Laughed like a perfect angel
For the yellow on my nose
Every time I see one
I can’t help but let it grow
You may see a dandelion
I just see a rose
~~*~~

She’s lived with her Mother
Since the day that we broke up
Mine every other weekend
And that’s just not enough

She’s only two years old
So she doesn't understand
But I will be long dead
Before she calls another
“Dad”

~~~*Chorus*~~~
She handed me a wilted dandelion
Like it was a rose
Laughed like a perfect angel
For the yellow on my nose
Every time I see one
I can’t help but let it grow
You may see a dandelion
I just see a rose
~~*~~
My neighbors want to kill me
With the blowing of the seeds
Anonymous letters
Claiming them as weeds
More potent than their anger
Is a little blonde-haired child
Who handed me a dandelion
Trying to coax a smile
~~~*Chorus*~~~
She handed me a wilted dandelion
Like it was a rose
Laughed like a perfect angel
For the yellow on my nose
Every time I see one
I can’t help but let it grow
You may see a dandelion
I just see a rose
~~*~~

FEEL THE NEED (The Untold Story)

I was driving on route forty six
Headed to Salinas on a business trip
I felt a chill up my spine, went a little numb
Wondered where on earth did that car come from

~~~*1st Chorus*~~~
It appeared like something from the past throwing dirt
Whitewall tires and fender skirts
A 55 Chevy sporting Gypsy Red
I finally shook the feeling as it flew ahead
I punched the gas …piece of cake
I drive a Maserati for Heaven’s sake
Crested the pass and thought …what the hell
Knew I had a story I could never tell
~~*~~
Three months later, a September day
Back to Salinas going the same way
I felt excitement building heading up the pass
Didn't see a soul so I hit the gas
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
It appeared out of nowhere like the last had done
A 550 Spyder in a silver tone
I was flying down the grade with the ghost machine
Racing like a rebel
With the late James Dean
At the intersection we said farewell
Got me another story that I’ll never tell
~~*~~

I've been there every weekend for the last five years
Now I've quit my job and switched careers
Headed to the pass in a Dagger GT
This time Jimmy wants to ride with me

~~~*3rd Chorus*~~~
They appear out of nowhere every time I go
Looking for a little action on “Racers road”
It’s a classic addiction horsepower and speed
Yes, I feed the fetish when I feel the need
It’s all I've ever dreamed of, all I want to do
Fly with the guys who love it too
~~*~~
I've never told a soul, but if your car’s got speed
You can race with a legend if you feel the need
Have an open mind and you’ll do well
Get yourself a story that you’ll never tell
Feel the Need...
COMMON SENSE
Don’t use an umbrella in a lightning storm
Don’t wear a knitted hat if the day’s too warm
Always wash your hands before you prepare food
Don’t tip the bottle if you’re in a bad mood
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Let common sense
Get a hold on you
When you’re sick of being stupid
In the dumb things that you do
Stop and think
Shake off the dense
Clear the cobwebs
Use some common sense
          ~~*~~

Don’t oil up before you go and tan
When you hit the road don’t forget a map
If you stop on a hill use the parking brake
If you can’t swim don’t jump in the lake

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Let common sense
Get a hold on you
When you’re sick of being stupid
In the dumb things that you do
Stop and think
Shake off the dense
Clear the cobwebs
Use some common sense
           ~~*~~
Electricity can kill you if you mess around
No one can see your business if the shades are down
Your car might not get robbed if the alarm is on
You can’t buy any groceries if the money’s gone
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Let common sense
Get a hold on you
When you’re sick of being stupid
In the dumb things that you do
Stop and think
Shake off the dense
Clear the cobwebs
Use some common sense
            ~~*~~

Get it together

Shake of the dense
Quit being stupid
Use some common sense!

FIRE

The scarlet sun is bedding down
Illusions of the mountains aflame
While ebony steals into my soul
The unrelenting winds scream your name
Your ruthless image comes to mind
Merging with the fury you evoke
Forging a wrath
You will never tame
Hell's fire erupting through the smoke

~~~*Chorus*~~~
The fire’s lain dormant
Like a virgin field
That you ravaged
Impeding yield
The fruit of harvest
Refused to thrive
Stifled by smoke
Consumed by fire
My passion's vengeance
Fueled by desire
To watch you perish
Within the fire
~~*~~
You were brutal
In your deceit
A mock-dandy unexposed to all
But I was acquainted with the ruse
My crusade…
To make the sinful fall
Destination Purgatory
I relish the justice that’s transpired
Banished from the forthright and moral
Cast into an everlasting fire
~~~*Chorus*~~~
The fire’s lain dormant
Like a virgin field
That you ravaged
Impeding yield
The fruit of harvest
Refused to thrive
Stifled by smoke
Consumed by fire
My passion's vengeance
Fueled by desire
To watch you perish
Within the fire

I AM ADRIFT TODAY

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I am adrift today
Without a sense of clarity
Searching for the balance
In a sea without parity
Your armor is strapped on
The cause of pain within the fray
I am adrift today
There is no honor in your quay
~~*~~
You were once a haven
I was secure in your midst
I reveled in the belief
Bar you
I don’t exist
The entirety was tranquil
No conflict to pursue
It was celestial
Reliance
Of you
A simple wave made you vary
Strength succumbed to fear
The shifting of the tide
Breeds mooring
Unsecured
The stability was feign
A Judas in disguise
I am adrift today
The anchor is
Untied
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I am adrift today
Without a sense of clarity
Searching for the balance
In a sea without parity
Your armor is strapped on
The cause of pain within the fray
I am adrift today
There is no honor in your quay
~~*~~
I am adrift today…

MEN LIKE THAT

I was off to meet the girls and was running late
Stupid orange cones on the interstate
Forty miles under what I usually drive
Knocked a couple over when I turned too wide

Almost made it to the ramp when he smiled at me
Left a trail of rubber burning at least twenty feet
Went over the embankment slammed into a van
He vaulted the divider like superman

Looked in the broken window what can I say
I smiled like a fool and fainted dead away
I woke up to the pain of pounding in my head
Saw him standing there and figured I was dead

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Cause men like that
You just don’t see
Unless they’re on the cover of a magazine
Men like that
Don’t rescue me
They only save the beauties on the TV screen
I am alive
Not a scratch on me
And that little piece of Heaven does not have wings
I rang the bell
Need the doctor fast
Cause men like that can surely cause a heart attack
~~*~~
I whispered thank you God when he took my hand
I wasn't wrong when I compared him to superman
He had jet-black hair and deep blue eyes
An easy six-footer with a killer smile
He stayed until they told me that I could go
And said lean on me and I’ll drive you home
Somebody better pinch me and wake me up
If I’m not dead…I just fell in love
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Cause men like that
You just don’t see
Unless they’re on the cover of a magazine
Men like that
Don’t rescue me
They only save the beauties on the TV screen
I am alive
Not a scratch on me
And that little piece of Heaven does not have wings
I rang the bell
Need the doctor fast
Cause men like that can surely cause a heart attack
~~*~~

I’m off to meet the girls…we’re going to the fair
Got a handsome new driver to take me there
Yeah it’s been a couple years, and my car’s repaired
I just let him drive so I can sit and stare…

Cause men like that
You just don’t see…

PARADISE

Alabaster skin
Flawless and smooth
Illuminating eyes
Mirrors of her youth
All hunger for her satin hair
Emulating fields of wheat
Crave the music of her laughter
Taunting like the breeze

~~~*Chorus*~~~
And her body...
Like a wicked flame
Aphrodite…
Does writhe in shame
Swaying like the magic…
She weaves about the room
Enthralling all men…
In a web of ruin
Immortal beauty…
Beyond their grasp
No breathing rival…
Fit to surpass
A fragile blossom…
Fragrance enticed
Delicate perfection…
A consuming price
Any man will pay it…
To their demise
Deep in the clutches…
Of Paradise
~~*~~
Rose-blush lips
Supple and full
Sovereign features
Transcending all
Ache for possession
What cannot be
Lust is a passion
Insanity
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Visionary fools
All siren slaves
Desire and fancies
Accompany the grave
A futile love
A tragic vice
Addiction fueled
By Paradise
~~*~~

~~~*final Chorus*~~~
Oh that body‘s…
Like a wicked flame
Aphrodite…
Does writhe in shame
Swaying like the magic…
She weaves about the room
Enthralling all men…
In a web of ruin
Immortal beauty…
Beyond their grasp
No breathing rival…
Fit to surpass
To their demise
Deep in the clutches…
Of Paradise
PLAY
I put in that old tape...just to hear your voice
I know the pain will follow...anguish is not a choice
I miss you every day...smile through the tears
Seems like yesterday...damn the lonely years
I think of all the things...that you said to me
Never to hold back...always live your dreams
You are very beautiful...I'm so proud of you
You know I'll hold your hand...no matter what you do
~~~*Chorus*~~~
God I miss you...and the love we had
I think of you and smile...but it still hurts so bad
I'm looking up to Heaven...don't know what else to do
Sending you my love...praying it makes it through
You're no longer here...night bleeds into day
I just can't help myself...my shaking finger pushes
Play
~~*~~

The reason no one's picking up...is that we're headed to the lake
You can come and join us...you'll find us there all day
The laughter that follows...gets swallowed by the beep
My heart constricts with sorrow...I hold my head and weep

There's nowhere else to go...no place to run and hide
It's all an empty chest...no treasure left inside
Your favorite books remain unopened...your car's still in the drive
Reminders of the reasons...that I once felt alive

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
I want you to come back...It's Hell I'm living through...
Everything is dark...The beauty left with you...
They all say to learn to live without you
But I just can't find my way....
Play! I push play...
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
God I miss you...and the love we had
I think of you and smile...but it still hurts so bad
I'm looking up to Heaven...don't know what else to do
Sending you my love...praying it makes it through
You're no longer here...night bleeds into day
I just can't help myself...my shaking finger pushes
Play

REFLECTION OF A MARTYR

~~~*Chorus*~~~
A glimpse in the mirror reveals her
The shining auburn hair a dusty gray
Her complexion isn't flawless like it once was
Time has left its brand upon her face
The fluid motion of her body’s not complying
With the aged reflection in the mirror
It’s in the eyes staring back she sees the wonder,
Subtle recognition, fragile fear
~~*~~
She was a gentle beauty with a hard life
Her Daddy was the hero in this play
Her Mommy did not condone her daydreams
But she surrendered and looked the other way
She left home to marry her prince charming
He wasn't quite as gallant as he’d seemed
She would strive until they labeled her a martyr
Not once forsaking him or her dreams
They raised their children in a good home
He finally grew into a noble man
She said farewell to her ghosts of hesitation
And they took on tribulation hand in hand
~~~*Chorus*~~~
A glimpse in the mirror reveals her
The shining auburn hair a dusty gray
Her complexion isn't flawless like it once was
Time has left its brand upon her face
The fluid motion of her body’s not complying
With the aged reflection in the mirror
It’s in the eyes staring back she sees the wonder,
Subtle recognition, fragile fear
~~*~~

He was there to witness his kids growing
Finding a happily-ever-after of their own
And she was lying there beside him in the morning
When the Good Lord, far too early, called him home

She never bent like a willow with the nightmare
The agony of her family through his death
She was, once again, the selfless martyr
Encouraging them all with every breath

Like a mirror, she saw a touch of his reflection
In her children, or a Grandchild’s face
She would smile and then hold back the river
That did threaten the weakened dam to break
~~~*~~~
Time has sifted in through the doorway
She has persevered through love, loss, and fate
Blessed by a family that adores her
Knowing every sacrifice she’s made
When the wind shifts, and time finds its destination
There is a beauty through the evidence of age
A martyr for the lives she has protected
For the mighty altruistic love she gave…..
~~~*Chorus*~~~
A glimpse in the mirror reveals her
The shining auburn hair a dusty gray
Her complexion isn't flawless like it once was
Time has left its brand upon her face
The fluid motion of her body’s not complying
With the aged reflection in the mirror
It’s in the eyes staring back she sees the wonder,
Subtle recognition, fragile fear
