MY HEROES OVERSEAS

I drove my car out to the airport
Settled down on a seat
Watched people welcoming their heroes
Servicemen from overseas

Drove to the Columbia river
And sank down on my knees
The grass was wet in the early light
That didn't bother me

First I prayed to God in Heaven
And then I looked around
I didn't see a single person
So I just opened my mouth to shout

~~~*Chorus*~~~
This is a shout out
To my heroes overseas
Not everyone’s forgotten
I’m down here on my knees
And every breath of freedom
That I breathe
I give my thanks to God
And my heroes overseas
I want you to know
This gratitude runs deep
And I am always with you
My heroes overseas
~~*~~
I read the local paper today
All I could do was moan...
Another bomb in Afghanistan
Five more of ours aren't coming home
I know we’re not there with them
I know that  life goes on
But they’re dying for this Country
Help support them while they're gone
Every breath of freedom that you breathe
You know it’s never free
It's purchased by noble lives
Our heroes overseas
~~~*Chorus*~~~
This is a shout out
To my heroes overseas
Not everyone’s forgotten
I’m down here on my knees
And every breath of freedom
That I breathe
I give my thanks to God
And my heroes overseas
I want you to know
This gratitude runs deep
And I am always with you
My heroes overseas
~~*~~
