MY GEO METRO

She said this can’t be your car man
I won’t be seen in that
You've got to be kidding
I’m taking our date back

Spoken:
Taking our date back?
What do you want to do, walk?
Hey, come on, don’t leave
The least we can do is talk!
Fine! Walk!

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I’ll be cruising around in my Geo Metro
You may laugh, but it’s good on petrol
Is that your big, new truck, in your driveway…
Man, how much gas does that huge sucker take
When you fill it up, just how far can you go
I love my Geo Metro
~~*~~
She asked me if I was joking
At least this one got in
Said we only have ten minutes
Before the show begins
I laughed cause she was whining
There was no parking place
I whipped my Geo Metro
Into a little space
I didn't ask her out again
She did not appreciate
How awesome my car is
And now it’s just too late
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I’ll be cruising around in my Geo Metro
You may laugh, but it’s good on petrol
Is that your big, new truck, in your driveway…
Man, how much gas does that huge sucker take
When you fill it up, just how far can you go
I love my Geo Metro
~~*~~

~~~* Finale*~~~
Yeah, it’s not that fast
But great on gas
I don’t care if its beat up
Go ahead and joke
I’m not going broke
Driving some big truck
When I have a date
I can treat her great
Cause I have cash to spend
Now my only problem is…
Some girls just wont get in
I WONDER
I helped my Grandfather
In the wheat fields
During harvest, every year
When I was young
He was everything I wanted to be like
We cleared those dusty fields
From dawn to dusk
He never complained
 I followed suit, and did the same
I desired his pride
In how hard I tried
And I wonder
Yeah I wonder
Could he see the love
When he looked in my eyes
~~~*Chorus*~~~
When life loses its shine
I stop the hands of time
And remember every day that gleamed
When we were tilling up the land
Slapping backs and shaking hands
When a man was what he seemed to be
And I wonder
Yeah I wonder
Did he know how much he meant to me
~~*~~
I think about those times
We spent together
And all the endless talks
Of future plans
And I wonder if he knew
How much I loved him
Or that he is the reason
That I am
The man I am
Yeah, I wonder…

~~~*Chorus*~~~
When life loses its shine
I stop the hands of time
And remember every day that gleamed
When we were tilling up the land
Slapping backs and shaking hands
When a man was what he seemed to be
And I wonder
Yeah I wonder
Did he know how much he meant to me
CHOOSE OUR FATE
I dream of a refuge
It's on an island
Far from animosity
Where we have shelters
Grow big gardens
Have no electricity
A pool of fresh water
Fed by the falls
And fruit trees of every kind
My dream's a reflection
Of the contention
Weighing heavy on my mind
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I'll take a God- given hurricane
A tsunami, any raging storm
Monsoons washing everything away
His disasters in any form
But I reject... the malice of man
The collision of their greed and hate
I'll take everyone I love with me
In my dreams, it's not too late
We get to choose our fate
~~*~~

I dream of a prison
It's in the desert
Far from loving human beings
There’s no escaping
No bleeding hearts
That will set these villains free
The souls who are evil
Are all shoved in there
Forgotten like they should be
A dream born of disgust
Outrage and mistrust
For allies to the enemy

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
I know our world will never be
The Garden of Eden
There are wars and torture
Righteous screams
Why not contain the demons
When we have the power
To grant what all the gracious dream
It's not too late
Let us choose our fate
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I'll take a God- given hurricane
A tsunami, any raging storm
Monsoons washing everything away
His disasters in any form
But I reject… the malice of man
The collision of their greed and hate
I'll take everyone I love with me
In my dreams, it's not too late
We get to choose our fate

THOU SHALT NOT KILL

Time to decide
A ravaged life that pleads
Thou shalt not kill
Does not panic me

I will not lie
I’ve read every verse
But I'd give my life
To execute the hurt

I shall steal
Abduct her from this earth
Endure your wrath
To deliver her

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I know she is yours
This precious being
I would hold on tight
But the suffering
Is endless
Relentless
Thou shalt not kill
Does not cripple me
My life for hers
Fulfilled>>>
~~*~~
Thou shalt not kill
~~*~~
Time to decide
A ravaged life that pleads
Thou shalt not kill
Does not hinder me
I will not lie
I'll covet what is lost
I fear you Lord
But I must go on
I shall steal
Steal her pain away
Thou shalt not kill
It is a price I’ll pay
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I know she is yours
This precious being
I would hold on tight
But the suffering
Is endless
Relentless
Thou shalt not kill
Does not cripple me
My life for hers
 Fulfilled...
~~~*~~~
Thou shalt not kill
TOO HIGH
Did I move too fast
Did I try too hard
Was I not enough
Enough to win your heart
I don’t understand
Whatever did I do
To make you build a wall
A wall I can’t pass through
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Too high
Too high to climb
Baby it’s too high
The wall you built
To block this heart of mine
It’s just too high
~~*~~

We could start again
It can’t be too late
Look at what we have
That you would toss away
Make it clear to me
Please tell me what you want
What do I have to do
To make you drop the wall

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Should I plead with you
Would it help to cry
I can’t tear it down
I’ve already tried
You’re the one in control...
So tell me
Tell me what’s my role
I have the right to know
Why...
You built this wall so high
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Too high
Too high to climb
Baby it’s too high
The wall you built
To block this heart of mine
It’s just too high
~~*~~

CHANGE OF TOPIC

Change of topic
What’s acceptable
I don’t like your views
So don’t get comfortable
Well that’s just fine
You don’t agree with mine
I’m not throwing them in your face
You’re the one that’s attacking me
When I am living on His Grace

~~~*1st Chorus*~~~
Change of topic
How’s your weather been
Are you healthy
How about your friends
It’s getting hotter
I've been a little sick
There you go again
Change of topic
~~*~~
Change of topic
Why are you so mean
I truly love you
That’s why I let you be
When I want to rage
Try to make you change
To open up your eyes and see
Faith and Love are crucial things
That they are all you’ll ever need
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
Change of topic
How’s your Mother been
Is she happy
Has she made new friends
I give you reasons
Wish I could make them stick
You say forget it
Change of topic
~~*~~

~~~*Finale*~~~
We are bound forever
By family ties
Live with your opinion
And I’ll live with mine
When the Lord comes up
And our hearts collide
I will Pray for you
To open up your mind
Change of topic
~~*~~
FOREVER ALIVE ...IN ME
There’s a place I go…
When I feel like this
It’s not on a map
But it does exist
In me…
Where I talk to you
Even though you’re gone
Where I can see you
Memories living on
In me…
~~~*Chorus*~~~
In me…
You’ll always be alive in me
In me…
I won’t ever say goodbye
I dream…
The laughter is real
I will always feel
You’ll be…
Forever alive in me…
~~*~~

This place where I am
A secret, brilliant void
With no cluttered world
Or intrusive noise
In me…

I just close my eyes
Shut out everything
No one at my door
No telephone that rings
In me…

~~~*Chorus*~~~
In me…
You’ll always be alive in me
In me…
I won’t ever say goodbye
I dream…
The laughter is real
I will always feel
You’ll be…
Forever alive in me…
~~*~~
When truth comes searching
Seeks a way inside
I simply drift away
A place it cannot find
In me…
~~~*Finale*~~~
I don’t ever say goodbye you see….
You’re forever alive in me…

THE BEST PART

You couldn't scrape up a penny
In the dump that we called home
Our Mother worked two full time jobs
And us kids stayed there alone

She'd finally join us, looking tired
Always bringing scraps to eat
She'd take off her old blue coat
And the worn shoes from her feet

~~~*1st Chorus*~~~
She would smile...
And look at us, like she'd been gone ten years
She say, Oh Lord, I've missed you so
Come and welcome Mommy home
She'd hug us...
Ask, do you hear my heart
And we would laugh
That was the best part
~~*~~
There was not a cross word spoken
With nothing to fight about
Checked out books from the library
We took turns reading aloud
Yeah, we all braced ourselves for school
We knew well that we'd be teased
But we were three, against them all
And there was free lunch to eat
~~~*Chorus*~~~
And a smile...
She'd look at us, like we'd been gone ten years
She'd say, Oh Lord, I've missed you so
Come here for your welcome  home
She'd hug us...
Ask, do you hear my heart
And we would laugh
That was the best part
~~*~~

~~~*Finale*~~~
I remember my childhood
Whenever things get hard
And, I smile...
Cause that was the best part
~~*~~
IN HIS EYES
He walked in the front door
Briefcase in hand
Slung it through the air
It smashed into a lamp
She ran from the bedroom
Eyes swollen and red
He grabbed her to his body
Sobbed, and hung his head
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Yeah, it's your life
You take your stand
But don't condemn loved ones
Who don't understand
Patience applies
Paint has to dry
They'll adjust to the color
Just give them time
Yeah...
It's in the eyes
~~*~~

They sat at the table
Album in between
You as a baby
A young man sixteen

Your Dad looked at the pictures
While your Mama cried
He gently held her face
Said, look in his eyes...

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
I look in your eyes, and I see the pain
I've never looked in his, and it's just the same
Why did it take a picture, to make me see
His haunted eyes, the doubt and misery
Here he is with his partner, look how they shine
He's finally happy, love, just look in his eyes
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Yeah, it’s your life
You take your stand
But don’t condemn loved ones
Who don’t understand
Patience applies
Paint has to dry
They’ll adjust to the color
Just give them time
To See your eyes

HEARTBREAKING GAMES

Being with you
Has left me lonely
And I don’t want
To feel this way
I am so tired
Of trying to hold you
You dealt me cards
I cannot play

The stakes were low
When I first met you
And we had fun
Most of the time
But then you raised
The want to win you
Knowing I
Won’t bid that high

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Was she sweet, was she worth it
Did you tell her that she’s perfect
Did you warn her there are rules
To your game
Does she know there is a price
Have a clue you don't play nice
Have you explained that you cheat
When you play
Your
Heart breaking games
~~*~~
Oh yes I cried
Because I loved you
Your player’s face
Showed no remorse
I could have stayed
Tried hard to win you
But it costs
More than you worth
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
No one likes a cheater
A shark who’s playing games
Using a heart, like it’s a free card
Ripping it up as he plays
Callous fools, changing the rules
Hiding what should be displayed
The cards aren't right, and I can't fight
Your
Heart breaking games
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Was she sweet, was she worth it
Did you tell her that she’s perfect
Did you warn her there are rules
To your game
Does she know there is a price
Have a clue you don't play nice
Have you explained that you cheat
When you play
Your
Heart breaking games
~~*~~
TAKE A MINUTE
He woke up alone
No Wife, no note
Every bone in his body hurt
Found his truck on blocks
With all the tires off
He was cussing and kicking dirt
He couldn’t find a drink
She poured it down the sink
He threw the empty at the wall
He couldn’t blame her none
After what he’d done
Good Lord, he should have called
~~~*Chorus*~~~
It only takes a minute to use a phone
Tell your baby when you’re coming home
If you don’t find a way, you may end up alone
Cause it only takes a minute to use a phone
~~*~~

Couldn’t call his Mom
Since he was wrong
She would just side with his wife

He’d screwed up again
Leaving his best friend
Behind, at the bar, last night

Tried to find his boots
Guess she took those too
He went into shock, appalled

She’d turned loose the stock
And he couldn’t walk
Good Lord, he should have called

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Six miles to the closest neighbor’s house
He tried, but his wallet, could not be found
She took his cell phone battery out
He cried like a baby, sat down to pout
He felt like he’d been born again
When he heard her truck come pulling in
Boots in hand, his tires and all
He swore, Good Lord, next time I’ll call
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
It only takes a minute to use a phone
Tell your baby when you’re coming home
If you don’t find a way, you may end up alone
Cause it only takes a minute to use a phone

COUNTRY

I Love all the music
Rock and roll to symphony
But if you want to know
What shakes these bones
Its country!

It can tell a great story
Some of them relate to me
I either laugh, or cry
Love, death, hot guys
That’s country!

When country men are singing
I can hear the tenderness
Or the inner child,
No control, gone wild
Hard fists or sweet caress
Yeah country!

Ya’ll listen to the ladies
Belt out, or serenade
Tell you what is up
Do men crawl, or strut
Will they shine, or will they fade
Ask country!
~~~*~~~
Cowgirls, cowboys, rodeos
Big trucks,  bar fights, cool cars, and boats
Horses, ranches, Stetsons, Kids
Contraband the law forbids
It’s Love, and hate, its money spent
Deep-down respect and time with friends
Trees, and mountains, Jeans and farms
Sweet tea, moonshine, Mason jars
Motorcycles, ATV’s, anything and everything
Its country
Yeah
Country
Now you know
What shakes these bones
All Country
Hmm…
Country
VOID OF LOVE
Stands to reason
You should know
Void of Love
You’re a dying soul
~~*~~
Songs about Love’s power
Stories of its fate
To never know
Its highs and lows
Before your life abates
Is a misfortune
Don’t you see
Void of Love
Life's a tragedy
~~*~~
Recall of its pleasures
Memories of its tears
Oh, everyday
I can relay
The comfort of him near
No way would I trade it
Avoid a precious thing
I have been blessed
Perfect, or mess
Sweet love beats everything
You stay alone
So negative
Void of love
To never live
~~*~~
 The greatest gift, in life, is love
You barely exist
That first kiss, pure tenderness
The passion that you’ve missed
The deep desire, the burning fire
A friend, the link, the trust
Is all lost, emptiness the cost
In a life that’s void of love
~~*~~
 Just being here
Is not enough
It's not life
Void of love
~~*~~
ARE YOU CRAZY
Boy are you crazy
Crazy enough for me
I’m a locked up mess
And no one’s held the key
So are you crazy
Are you man enough
To handle all I bring
My bleeding heart
For others sufferings
Are you crazy
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Cause I go crazy
Crazy as they come
When a sadist wins
And destroys someone
Injustice burns
So deep in me
They call me crazy
~~~~
So are you crazy
~~*~~
Boy are you ready
For I’m a wanton force
Demanding victory
Over the Trojan horse
Are you sure this time
That you can take it in
Knowing good will lose
When the lowlifes win
~~~*Lyrical Bridge~~~
Let me go crazy
Let me rant and scream
Just support me
Through these travesties
And I will love you
Beyond all you’ve dreamed
For bearing with me
Through insanity
~~~~~~
Are you crazy
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Cause I go crazy
Crazy as they come
When a sadist wins
And destroys someone
Injustice burns
So deep in me
They call me crazy
~~~~
So are you crazy
NOT ENOUGH
I’m old enough to remember Vietnam
Foreign shores, and the Vietcong
I cried for every young man pride dictates
Prisoners of war, their unholy fate
I could not perceive the torture
Or their lives of pain
Defending a country
Which abandoned them
~~~*1st Chorus*~~~
They took our boys
All hopes and dreams
Forced to be men
Damned reality
The ones left behind
To die, or age too fast
We didn’t do enough
Enough to bring them back
~~*~~

I’m old enough to resent Afghanistan
A foreign country, full of Taliban
I cry with every young life that they take
Their prisoner of war, wonder what’s his fate

I can’t imagine why
We don’t trade with them
Cannot conceive a reason
To abandon him

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Bargain with the bastards
If it saves his life
Swallow your pride
Don’t leave a man behind
People remember
What you cowards did
In Vietnam
They were only kids
hostile hearts are turning
Bitter cold
I think you’d better bring
Our soldier home
~~*~~
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
They took our boy
All hopes and dreams
Forced to be a man
Damned reality
He’s been left behind
To die, or age too fast
You haven’t done enough
Enough to bring him back

TANGLED PATHS

I took a back road this morning
Avoiding traffic into town
Just my luck, there was some old truck
In my lane broken down

There was no way to evade it
I knew that I would stop to help
I was raised, with a sense of grace
That has always served me well

When I finally got pulled over
I heard a curse under his hood
He saw me, said forgive me please
I’d have answered if I could

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I was speechless
Totally blown away
Dumbfounded and astonished
Impressed, stunned, and amazed
I counted my blessings
You all do the math
I was thinking of a way to
Tangle up our paths
~~*~~
He’d been using his t-shirt
To wipe the grease off of his hands
I felt flushed, and I know I blushed
He was such a gorgeous man
He said he’d forgot his cell phone
Then he asked if I would mind
Could he use mine, or get a ride
But all I could do was smile
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I was speechless
Totally blown away
Dumbfounded and astonished
Impressed, stunned, and amazed
I counted my blessings
You all do the math
I was thinking of a way to
Tangle up our paths
~~*~~

~~~*Finale*~~~
Tangled is knotted,
Together, interlaced
I believe, he was meant to be
Right there in that place
Love’s divine, now he’s all mine
Our lives are amassed
Fate and grace figured out a way
To tangle up our paths
~~*~~
