TANGLED PATHS

I took a back road this morning
Avoiding traffic into town
Just my luck, there was some old truck
In my lane broken down

There was no way to evade it
I knew that I would stop to help
I was raised, with a sense of grace
That has always served me well

When I finally got pulled over
I heard a curse under his hood
He saw me, said forgive me please
I’d have answered if I could

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I was speechless
Totally blown away
Dumbfounded and astonished
Impressed, stunned, and amazed
I counted my blessings
You all do the math
I was thinking of a way to
Tangle up our paths
~~*~~
He’d been using his t-shirt
To wipe the grease off of his hands
I felt flushed, and I know I blushed
He was such a gorgeous man
He said he’d forgot his cell phone
Then he asked if I would mind
Could he use mine, or get a ride
But all I could do was smile
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I was speechless
Totally blown away
Dumbfounded and astonished
Impressed, stunned, and amazed
I counted my blessings
You all do the math
I was thinking of a way to
Tangle up our paths
~~*~~

~~~*Finale*~~~
Tangled is knotted,
Together, interlaced
I believe, he was meant to be
Right there in that place
Love’s divine, now he’s all mine
Our lives are amassed
Fate and grace figured out a way
To tangle up our paths
~~*~~
