WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME

When Fall comes, and the tree is done
I want to gather up the leaves
And put them back

The majesty doesn't seem complete
For the barren, lonely tree
Like hearts with cracks

Somehow they both are undefined
Desolate, and left behind
There is no draw

Eyes seek perfection naturally
Avoid the blemished, empty tree
And hearts with flaws

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Don't look too deep...
When you look at me...
I'm sure my heart is nothing
Nothing you want to see
Don't look too deep
When you look at me
~~*~~
The birth of Spring, it always brings
The slight bitterness, of envy, into light
It's so unreal
That I would relent, even consent
To begrudge an injured tree
It's chance to heal
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
On the outside, I can be
As pretty as, the tree in spring
The surface never shows
What I hold back
All that I lack
Underneath it, deep inside
Oh take a look, and you will find
The damage that will prove
I'm not intact
My heart is cracked
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Don't look too deep...
When you look at me...
I'm sure my heart is nothing
Nothing you want to see
Don't look too deep
When you look at me
~~*~~
Oh when you look at me...
Don't look too deep
~~*~~
