WOUNDED LIVES

They're surrounded by their secrets
But unforgotten are their truths
Bone weary, keeping up
Hiding all that they've been through

But to let somebody in
To bare all that there once was
So hard now, been too long
Settle for what they've become

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Wounded lives
Blending, like chameleons, with the crowds
Shattered bad, trying to get past
The nightmares they have lived out
Where life's been unkind, you'll find
Wounded lives
~~*~~
Their secrets do not hurt a soul
They're simply a protective shield
To block out prying minds
And to hold in unshed tears
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
No, a secret can't be called a lie
Not in the eyes of wounded lives
Don't step in and twist the knife
Love them, hold them, give them time
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Wounded lives
Blending, like chameleons, with the crowds
Shattered bad, trying to get past
The nightmares they have lived out
Where life's been unkind, you'll find
Wounded lives
~~*~~
