OLD BEN'S TREASURE

A long time ago he was killed for gold
But they all died by the gun
It was a gang led by Dee Foster
And four of his ornery Sons

They tracked old Ben up from the town
Cornered him deep in the mine
But when they tried to rob him blind
There was no gold to find…

~~~* Chorus*~~~
Folks say they heard Dee Foster
Holler all the way in town
And then the shot, that went and brought
Old Ben’s gold mine down
No one inside could have survived
That’s how the legend goes
And it was told by Widow Jones
Ben never did find gold
~~*~~
The one who held the horses, felt no remorse as
He mounted his to flee
Neither did the Sheriff, when he caught him
And threw the rope up in a tree
He said if you can, tell a dying man
Where old Ben’s treasure was
The Sheriff said it was Widow Jones
Ben struck it rich with love
Ben claimed he found a treasure, beyond measure
That’s what he was bragging of
But to an evil man, like Dee Foster
There is no such thing as love
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Not an ounce of gold was found
But Ben smiled as he died
Knowing Dee, for eternity
Would always wonder why
Oooh ...when greed unfolds , in a heart that's cold
Some poor man's going to pay
But the legend’s told, that old Ben’s ghost
Still taunts Dee's to this day
~~*~~

~~~* Chorus*~~~
Folks say they heard Dee Foster
Holler all the way in town
And then the shot, that went and brought
Old Ben’s gold mine down
No one inside could have survived
That’s how the legend goes
And it was told by Widow Jones
Ben never did find gold
~~*~~
