GET AWAY

I was raised a city girl
My whole life I’ve been confined
Daddy said there’s nothing for me
Out in the countryside

Just a bunch of hayseeds
Inept and unrefined
Don’t glamorize unsuitable
But stick with your own kind

There’s a stagnant obstruction
I feel strangled and restrained
I left a note and all I wrote
Is I have to GET AWAY

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Get away
Make a break for it, escape
Freedom
To refuse to be detained
Survive
Some do not, if they stay
Get away
Get away
~~*~~
I found myself a hayseed
He comes with a PHD
My Daddy phoned, yelled get back home
And face reality
I met a pretty Amish girl
At the store the other day
Her eyes were sad, she felt it bad
The need to get away
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Get away
Make a break for it, escape
Freedom
To refuse to be detained
Survive
Some do not, if they stay
Get away
Get away
~~*~~
I worked things out with Daddy
Yeah my room is hers to grab
Then he laughed and said a Doctor’s
A brilliant hick to have
~~~*Finale*~~~
She adores the city
And I the countryside
She loves all the buildings
I crave the open skies
Everyone is happy
That things turned out this way
You can make it happen
Just have to get away
Get away
~~*~~
