SIMPLE LIVES

This is Monday
I’d sure like to stay in bed
Yeah it’s Monday
Another week looming ahead

But I look at your picture
Next to me, inside the frame
And I get up because I know
You would never think this way

Awake before the sun was
Heading out with gear and gun
Each day to make a difference
In the lives of everyone

In that Country of oppression and fear...
Yeah it’s Monday
And I’m lucky to be here

~~~*Chorus*~~~
There is still freedom
In the land of the free
I ‘m not worried that I’ll die
Just because I’m being me
So many take for granted
How simple our lives can be
Yeah, it’s Monday
How lucky can I be
~~*~~
This is Thursday
Oh, the last three days were Tough
Yeah it’s Thursday
Here missing you so much
I think of conversations
That we've had over the phone
How you could always make me laugh
About some buddy or a joke
A good friend to those people
And everything to me
Reminding me they need you
Explain their plight so I'll agree
They’re a Country of suffering and tears
Yeah, it’s Thursday
And I’m lucky to be here
~~~*Chorus*~~~
There is still freedom
In the land of the free
I ‘m not worried that I’ll die
Just because I’m being me
So many take for granted
How simple our lives can be
Yeah, it’s Thursday
How lucky can I be
~~*~~

It’s your Birthday
I loved you with all my heart
Yes, your Birthday
Knew the chance right from the start

And I look at your picture
Next to me inside the frame
And I find strength because I know
You’d want more from me these days

As I’m driving out to bring you
Flowers for your resting place
I remember to be thankful
For the man before the grave

To the Country he served, gave his life...
Oh my Country
Appreciate your simple lives

~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
There is still freedom
In the land of the free
I'm not worried that I’ll die
Just because I’m being me
So many take for granted
How simple our lives can be
But our Troops
Oh, our Troops
Have no such guarantee
~~*~~
~~*Finale*~~
Stop and think when you complain
Of petty things that make you cry
Bow your head, and pray instead
Thank them for your simple lives
~~*~~
