NIGHTMARES

He kissed her, and said goodnight
Then drifted off to sleep
She closed her eyes, and silently
Prayed she wouldn't dream

But her cries woke him one more time
Screams broke his tranquil night
He shook her hard, shoved her away
And though she knew it wasn't right

~~~* 1st Chorus*~~~
She said I’m sorry…
It began as a dream
Of a beautiful evening
Before a nightmare took the lead
I can’t control them
Once I fall asleep
You tell me to forget it
But these nightmare’s tunnel deep
~~*~~
He held her, and said I know
That was so wrong and mean
Just go to sleep, I’m sorry
It just gets to me
I will never forgive myself
Not being there, you know
And I can’t help but hate the way
That you can’t let it go
I feel like I am living through
A nightmare just like you
You will always be a victim
And I can't be here for you
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
He said I’m sorry…
That you can’t have sweet dreams
That every peaceful evening
Gets destroyed by your screams
You can’t control them
Once you fall asleep
I wish you could forget it
Your nightmares are killing me
~~*~~

He was gone when she got home
The next day after work
She waited for the pain
But his absence didn't hurt

Though she knew she had once loved him
He was now a beaten man
He wasn't where he said he’d be
To meet like they had planned

She didn't want to blame him
When strangers got to her
But this was not the first time
He didn't keep his word

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
And you have got to know …if someone will be there
So you can learn to do ...what you need to do alone
If you can’t count on someone… that you count on
You’re better off …if you make it on your own
If there’s one thing he’s learned…I hope he learned
You keep your word
Because there are no sweet dreams…
Nightmares tunnel deep
~~*~~
~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
She said I’m sorry…
It began as a dream
Of a beautiful evening
Before a nightmare took the lead
She can’t control them
Once she falls asleep
She won’t forget it
Because nightmares tunnel deep
~~*~~
