THE SILVER SCREEN

We used to hide in our neighbors pickup bed
Every Friday night
They were headed to the drive-in
And we never had a dime

But we’d risk it all for just one more smile
On Marlon Brando’s lips
Or to see John Wayne swagger out
With a gun hung on his hip

~~~*Chorus*~~~
We were junkies of the silver screen
We laughed, cried, swooned, and screamed
Held our breath and pressed our luck
In the bed of our neighbors pickup truck
Addicted to the silver screen
Devoted to its stars
My Sister and I hopelessly
Hooked right from the start
~~*~~
We spent every Friday with a handsome man
Cooper, Hunter, Flynn, and Ladd
Eastwood, Peck, Grant, and Dean
Newman, Redford, and McQueen
Astair and Kelly taught us to dance
Martin and Lewis made us laugh
We cheered when Gable cussed at Leigh
And witnessed Heston part the sea
Mmm… Widmark, Hudson, and Duvall
My Sister and I we loved them all
Stewart, Brenner, and Sinatra whew
Douglas, Walker, and Burton too
Elvis Presley drove us wild
Couldn't wipe away the smiles
Barely made it through the week between
Friday nights with the silver screen
~~~*Chorus*~~~
We were junkies of the silver screen
We laughed, cried, swooned, and screamed
Held our breath and pressed our luck
In the bed of our neighbors pickup truck
Addicted to the silver screen
Devoted to its stars
My Sister and I hopelessly
Hooked right from the start
~~*~~
