She was out beneath the weeping cherry tree
Head bowed low praying on her knees
When I heard her crying I stopped right there
A victim of its echoes on the evening air
Averting my eyes like a gentleman
I lowered my head with my hat in hand
Felt the onset of a light fall rain
I called upon the Lord to come and ease the pain
When I looked up she was already gone
Sorrow drifted through me as my hat went on
Tears and rain collided as I turned to go
She was an apparition for a broken soul
~~~*Chorus*~~~
My friends kept saying time would heal my pain
I had to bust away before I went insane
There’s only so much patience in a grieving man
And if they haven’t lived it they can’t understand
When you’re destined for forever you are as one
A half of a whole will always come undone
They said there is no way you can defeat death
I took my pretty apparition, bought a farm, and left
~~*~~
She was singing to the baby by the garden gate
I was running towards them just to touch his face
Almost there came the truth I’d feared
You can’t approach an apparition or it disappears
I savor the evenings when she comes to me
I can hold her like I’m meant to in my sweetest dreams
I greet the early morning with a thank you prayer
Smile at the apparition in the rocking chair
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
You can call me crazy it won’t bother me
I don’t care if you can’t visualize the things I see
Only God knows the reason he took them away
An apparition is my minds way to let them stay
~~*~~
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
You can try to convince me time will heal my pain
That won’t truly happen till we’re whole again
There’s only one solution for this grieving man
If you haven’t lived it you won’t understand
When you’re destined for forever you are as one
A half of a whole will always come undone
So I create an apparition when my heart does bleed
Defeat death and keep them here with me
~~*~~
~~*Finale*~~
You can call me crazy
It won’t bother me
I don’t care if you can’t visualize
The things I see
Only God knows the reason
He took them away
An apparition is my minds way
To let them stay
