In 1931 Saratoga had a Son
Whose voice would make a country listen up
The distinction was made, when Hank Williams told him Hey
You just sing like yourself, and don’t give up
Well, he tried a couple times, and he almost lost his life
But didn't lose the love of fans and friends
Never tried to hide his vice, Some times did not play nice
Just one of Country Music’s wild men
~~~*Chorus*~~~
When the drink came after him
We all thought that it would win
But he was more of a man
Than it could hold
The Good Lord Took him home
But his memory will live on
You will be missed down here
Mr. Jones
In 1931 Saratoga had a Son
And he became a country superstar
A downright renegade, that did learn to change his ways
And then survived the scars of living hard
And everyone that loved him, I know has shed some tears
Over the loss that we've sustained today
To his family and his friends, I pray for hearts to mend
And once they do, remember him this way
Hear laughter from the skies, take a chance and close your eyes
Until you picture him with Hank and John
I hear him singing loud with the angels in the clouds
You know a legend’s never really gone
~~~*Chorus*~~~
When the drink came after him
We all thought that it would win
But he was more of a man
Than it could hold
The Good Lord Took him home
But his memory will live on
You will be missed down here
Mr. Jones
