FINALLY HOME

Yes, I'm finally home
To see how you've been
So much has changed
I saw it driving in

And my heart did break
At how they've altered you
Yes, I should have stayed
I didn't have a clue

~~~*Chorus*~~~
What kind of vandals came to my home town
Took all the pretty trees, and they cut them down
If I wanted a desert, I'd be Vegas bound
What kind of monsters ravished my home town
~~*~~
Oh, when we were kids
All my friends and me
We would seek the shade
Planning out our dreams
Pile up the cones
Or make a path with them
Imaginations reigned
And I miss back then
~~~*Chorus*~~~
What kind of vandals came to my home town
Took all the pretty trees, and they cut them down
If I wanted a desert, I'd be Vegas bound
What kind of monsters ravished my home town
~~*~~

Where's my Brother's fort
Why'd they take it too
What about the birds
We used to listen to

And the sun beats down
Drying all the grass
All the beauty's gone
That we had in the past

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Go find yourselves a mountain
Rape the blinded side
So it's not a blemish
To the praising eyes
You stay away from here
So the trees can grow
Yes I'm finally home
You leave my town alone
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
What kind of vandals came to my home town
Took all the pretty trees, and they cut them down
If I wanted a desert, I'd be Vegas bound
What kind of monsters ravished my home town
~~*~~

GIVEN TIME

Do you recognize the dress I’m wearing Daddy
It’s the one that you told me I should pick
I don’t know what I’m going to do without you
How could a man so wonderful get sick

The little saplings that we planted by the walkway
On the day you explained the birds and bees
Are thriving outside while you’re in here dying
Tonight I was struck by the irony

My date’s going to take me to the dance now
I wanted you to see me in this dress
You’re the greatest man that I have ever needed
And you can rest knowing that you did your best

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Daddy if you go to Heaven
Before the dance is done
Please tell my Mama thanks for loving you
That I wish I would have known her
But I've felt her by my side
And please tell God how deeply I approve
If He had to leave just one
I’m Thankful He left you
And I’ll be fine
Given time
~~*~~
Don’t you think my graduation was exciting
That’s me blowing you a kiss at the end
Yes Daddy I will join the celebration
Do you want me to rewind the tape again
Oh, the flowers you pre-ordered are just gorgeous
And this locket that I will always wear
Yes, I love the picture of you and Mama
I showed it to every graduate I swear
Well my date’s here to take me to the party
I wanted you to see me graduate
You’re the greatest man that I have ever needed
You’ll be the best to grace St. Peter's gates
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Daddy if you go to Heaven
Before the party’s done
Please tell my Mama thanks for loving you
That I wish I would have known her
But I've felt her by my side
And please tell God how deeply I approve
If He had to leave just one
I’m Thankful He left you
And I’ll be fine
Given time
~~*~~

I feel your presence here with me Mom and Daddy
That’s one of the reasons for my smile
Uncle John said he’d be more than honored
Standing in for you to walk me down the aisle

I hope you know it’s because of how you raised me
I won’t fall apart without you by my side
For all my life you've taught me to be thankful
Of the beauty blessed, and the given time

~~~*3rd Chorus*~~~
Daddy you went on to Heaven
Knowing I would be just fine
Did you tell Mama thanks for loving you
That I wish I would have known her
But I've felt her by my side
Did you tell God how deeply I approved
If He had to leave just one
I’m Thankful He left you
And I’ll be fine
Given time
~~*~~
~~*Finale*~~
Lord I can sense you all
Sharing this life of mine
Feel the beauty blessed
Thanks to the given time
~~*~~
BAD GIRL
No,,,
 Her house isn't perfect
And there’s laundry to be done
You say she should get busy
Not be outside having fun
Go home to your museum
Where all your junk is hid
I’ll just smile, I like her style
Out playing with her kids
Yes...
 She used to party
Made a bad name for herself
But she’s one leopard, who changed her spots
And now she’s doing well
~~~*Chorus*~~~
So go judge on a jury
And leave this girl alone
She’s been remade, no need to hate
Why badmouth, and throw stones
If you don’t want to be the swine
On whom she’d cast her pearls
Try to support, hold your retorts
Don't call her a bad girl
~~*~~

You say not to hold my breath
That bad girls always stray
You have made mistakes yourself
Don’t look at me that way

Yes I can forgive her
That’s what it means to love
We all have scars, she’s trying hard
Besides, what’s done is done

Come here, look out the window
Oh, her kids loves her so much
She always puts them first now
So how can you hold a grudge

I know she was a bad girl
But believe this good will last
Please try to be a stronghold
And quit bringing up the past

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Yeah...
You can get on the wagon
Or you can stay away
I’ll miss you like crazy
But you can’t have it both ways
I love her, and I want to help
Show her a different world
But she’ll never feel, like it is real
If you treat her like a bad girl
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
So go judge on a jury
And leave this girl alone
She’s been remade, no need to hate
Why badmouth, and throw stones
If you don’t want to be the swine
On whom she’d cast her pearls
Try to support, hold your retorts
Don't call her a bad girl

SARATOGA SON

In 1931 Saratoga had a Son
Whose voice would make a country listen up
The distinction was made, when Hank Williams told him Hey
You just sing like yourself, and don’t give up

Well, he tried a couple times, and he almost lost his life
But didn't lose the love of fans and friends
Never tried to hide his vice, Some times did not play nice
Just one of Country Music’s wild men

~~~*Chorus*~~~
When the drink came after him
We all thought that it would win
But he was more of a man
Than it could hold
The Good Lord Took him home
But his memory will live on
You will be missed down here
Mr. Jones
~~*~~
In 1931 Saratoga had a Son
And he became a country superstar
A downright renegade, that did learn to change his ways
And then survived the scars of living hard
And everyone that loved him, I know has shed some tears
Over the loss that we've sustained today
To his family and his friends, I pray for hearts to mend
And once they do, remember him this way
Hear laughter from the skies, take a chance and close your eyes
Until you picture him with Hank and John
I hear him singing loud with the angels in the clouds
You know a legend’s never really gone
~~~*Chorus*~~~
When the drink came after him
We all thought that it would win
But he was more of a man
Than it could hold
The Good Lord Took him home
But his memory will live on
You will be missed down here
Mr. Jones

LIABLE SOULS

~~*Intro*~~
She had helped so many people
Who were worn and trodden down
For many years proprietress
Of the finest store in town
They all appeared, shed guilty tears
While standing at her grave
Oh they knew what she had given
Were contrite for what they gave
Oh…Oh…
Liable souls
~~*~~

She was crippled and old, on a bench outside the store
But her retention of the past contained no flaws
She sat there by the street, smiled at customers she’d meet
They all viewed her as a relic with a cause

Her weakness was the poor, the lost souls found at her door
She always welcomed them, and tended to their needs
Not a being inquired, why a lady aged and tired
Would just sit there, on a bench, so endlessly

If they would have asked, they’d have danced into her past
Could have shared in someone’s story, lonely tears
Yes, then they would have known, why she waited all alone
Could have grasped whose face was haunting her for years

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Thee indifferent do not care
We choose not to be aware
Of our neighbors sometimes vital needs
And I don’t believe we’re here
Not to listen or to care
With our time, display the greatest greed
But to reach out, heal the pain
So we all do not remain
Cold and heedless of the poor and old
Oh, and I will pray today
That our hearts will find a way
So we don’t become a liable soul
~~~*~~~

He was old, in the back, shedding tears on sculpted grass
Holding her faded picture to his chest
He heard them when they said,she spent years on that old bench
He'd been long absent, but he knew her best

She was eighteen and sweet, Lord he tried to be discreet
But he loved her, every body knew
They were both so young, and he was poor as they could come
He told her he’d be back in a year or two

But life it has a way, of making promises fade
He cursed himself, he didn't keep his word
While his life had gone on, He had married, had a son
The promise of his love remained with her

 ~~~*~~
She had helped so many people
Who were worn and trodden down
For many years proprietress
Of the finest store in town
He had appeared, shed guilty tears
While standing at her grave
Now he knew that she had waited
Deep remorse took him a slave
Oh…Oh…
Liable soul
~~*~~
~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
Thee indifferent do not care
We choose not to be aware
Of our neighbors sometimes vital needs
And I don’t believe we’re here
Not to listen or to care
With our time display the greatest greed
But to reach out, heal the pain
So we all do not remain
Cold and heedless of the poor and old
Oh, and I will pray today
That our hearts will find a way
So we don’t become a liable soul

Oh...Oh...
Liable Souls

HE ENVISIONS ME

He envisions me
In a pretty dress
While I'm sitting here
Looking such a mess
Said he still smells
The perfume I wear
He remembers wheat
Woven through my hair
And I let him dream
On the phone with me
I am, as he left
That is what he sees
But...

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I'd been on the tractor since the break of day
Working like a man, since he went away
Forget about the manicure, and pretty curls
When your man's in the service, it's a different world
No Cinderella story, with the gowns and balls
Just a whole lot of farming in his coveralls
I might feel like screaming, nothing's going right
But I tell him that it's perfect, when he calls at night
I'm not that girl, of his dreams, in reality
But I'm all that he envisions on the phone with me
~~*~~
I was freaking out
All the cows escaped
Found the lot of them
Eating up the hay
And the truck broke down
Gasket needs replaced
His old dog won't eat
And the trees need sprayed
But he misses me
Wishes he was home
Yes I am okay
We kiss through the phone
No I won't complain
He tells me sweet dreams
He is reassured
On the phone with me
 But...
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I'd been on the tractor since the break of day
Working like a man since he went away
Forget about the manicures and pretty curls
When your man's in the service, it's a different world
No Cinderella story with the gowns and balls
Just a whole lot of farming in his coveralls
I might feel like screaming, nothing's going right
But I tell him that it's perfect when he calls at night
I'm not that girl, of his dreams, in reality
But I'm all that he envisions, on the phone with me
~~*~~

When I thought I'd die
His whole family came
Helped me fix the truck
And bring in the hay
Oh, his Mama cried
Held me in her arms
Said he called last week
That he knows your heart
Asked us to come help
When things got too hard
Said he sees you girl
Angel that you are
I said...

~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
I've been on that tractor, every single day
Working like a man, since he went away
Forget about the manicures, and pretty curls
When your man's in the service,  it's a different world
No Cinderella story with the gowns and balls
Just a whole lot of farming in his coveralls
I might feel like screaming, nothing's going right
But I tell him that it's perfect, when he calls at night
I'm not that girl, of his dreams, in reality
But I'm all that he envisions on the phone with me
~~*~~
~~~*Finale*~~~
She held me at arms length, and smiled at me
She said, he knows everything, he sees you perfectly
How you try to protect him, all that you've been through
There's no illusion to...
How he envisions you
~~*~~

IT'S TRUE, TRUE, TRUE

Do I love you
Do you really have to ask me that
Do I need you
Yes I always will and that’s a fact
Do you please me
Oh my life has never been so full
Can I feel you
Like an undercurrent when it pulls

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Oh people talk about butterflies
When it’s love they’re trying to describe
Can’t live without you I’d rather die
If you’re not in it, then it’s not life
You are the veins running deep in me
Part of my soul for eternity
I hope that’s the answer that you seek
Because you are all I’ll ever need
It’s true, true, true….
Yes, I Love You
~~*~~
Can I read you
I just have to look into your eyes
Can I hear you
Yes, your thoughts are flowing into mine
Will I hold you
Oh I will like you are fragile glass
Glad I found you
Never letting go, and that's a fact
~~~*Lyrical Bridge~~~
It’s true, true, true
It’s not butterflies but eagle wings
Yes, I love you
You were born to be my everything
Oh I love you
Right down to the core of me
Now you’re smiling
The doubts are gone, you finally see
~~*~~
That it's true, true, true...
I love you

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Oh people talk about butterflies
When it’s love they’re trying to describe
Can’t live without you I’d rather die
If you’re not in it, then it’s not life
You are the veins running deep in me
Part of my soul for eternity
I hope that’s the answer that you seek
Because you are all I’ll ever need
It’s true, true, true….
Yes I Love You
~~*~~
It’s true true true
That I love you
LIGHT TALE
Have you ever had a tale to tell
And you didn't know where to start
Is there ever a way to explain
The deceitfulness of a heart
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Was the evidence there somewhere
Was he always cruel within
Did we only see the blinding light
Reflected when she was with him
Love’s not supposed to tear you up
Make you feel like you’d rather die
He was brutal with his wicked words
Damning with his eyes
He wouldn't be an honest man
He couldn't let her shine
A cloak of darkness in disguise
Extinguishing her With time
~~*~~

The introduction to the story is
Our sweet Princess’s life
Falling in love and becoming
This charlatans new wife

Oh…he acted like Prince Charming
In the beginning of the book
But as our Princess began to fade
We all took a closer look

 ~~~*Chorus*~~~
Was the evidence there somewhere
Was he always cruel within
Did we only see the blinding light
Reflected when she was with him
Love’s not supposed to tear you up
Make you feel like you’d rather die
He was brutal with his wicked words
Damning with his eyes
He wouldn't be an honest man
He couldn't let her shine
A cloak of darkness in disguise
Extinguishing her
With time
~~*~~
I may have to start the tale again
Include the Cardinal sins
I wonder if the scholar knows
That five of them apply to him
His ugliness is showing through
The illusion he’s portrayed
The moral of the story is
Not everyone’s been swayed
He had better know deep in his soul
It is time to make amends
If that light doesn't shine like it once did
We will be coming after him…….
THE ROAD
Flowers open
They’re beautiful to see
And when they’re wilting
You offer them a drink
For it revives them
Their fragrance is released
And you’re delighted
By the very air you breathe...
Without the water
They shrivel up and dry
And you are mournful
Because you let them die
~~~*Chorus*~~~
We all know the side of the road
We should be driving on
And we don’t change the lane we’re in
Just because the paint is gone
So if someone’s coming at you
When the lines are clearly drawn
It’s time to shake yourself awake
Something is surely wrong
~~*~~

People struggle
Some fight the malice off
And some are tender
They’re delicate and lost
They live for lightness
Their innocence unfolds
When bad approaches
They can’t take what wicked holds...

Without a comrade
They recoil from the fight
Are overtaken
Another loss of life

~~~*Chorus*~~~
We all know the side of the road
We should be driving on
And we don’t change the lane we’re in
Just because the paint is gone
So if someone’s coming at you
When the lines are clearly drawn
It’s time to shake yourself awake
Something is surely wrong
~~*~~
Life is precious
So don’t forget to care
About the people
Who feel alone out there
You know they need you
Just look to see the signs
Offer your friendship
Be the beauty in their lives...
Bleed with compassion
For other human beings
Protect the fragile
From hardships that life brings
~~~*Chorus*~~~
We all know the side of the road
We should be driving on
And we don’t change the lane we’re in
Just because the paint is gone
So if someone’s coming at you
When the lines are clearly drawn
It’s time to shake yourself awake
Something is surely wrong
~~*~~

YOU

When I see the sky
All dark and grey
You say oh my friend
The miracle of rain

Waiting in line
I start to get mad
You smile and ask
About the day I had

In the flower beds
I curse the weeds
You explain the marvel
Of a tiny seed

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Right before I sleep
When I’m on my knees
I feel the tears of gratitude
For all that’s given me
And the one thing
I don’t forget to do...
Is to thank my Loving Father
For blessing me with you
~~*~~
The service was so bad
Down at the cafe
You said that poor girls
Had a rotten day
While I was seeing
A yard full of leaves
You were enchanted
By the maple trees
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
I don't know what I'd do
Without your light my friend
And Lord I hope I never have to know
You make everything so wonderful in life
When I feel the dark descending
You turn it away with hope
You're Sleeping Beauty's Kiss
You awaken life anew
Such a perfect Friend
God's Blessing for me
You
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Right before I sleep
When I’m on my knees
I feel the tears of gratitude
For all that’s given me
And the one thing
I don’t forget to do...
Is to thank my Loving Father
For blessing me with you
I LOVE YOU BLINDLY
(Woman sings)
Would you please ask me again
Back it up, and push replay
Lord tell me I was dreaming
That I didn't walk away
(man sings)
Would you please come back to me
Put the pressure in the past
For I am lost without you
Girl forget I ever asked
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I love you blindly
I can't see, can't find my way
I need you badly
I won't last another day
Oh you're my heartbeat
I beg you
Don't let it end
I love you blindly
Help me find my way again
~~*~~

(woman sings)
I think my heart is broken
Don't believe that I can breathe
I stayed in bed this morning
There's no point, when it's just me

(man sings)
I feel like I am dying
Tried to breathe, but there's no air
Thought I could reach out to you
But your boss said you weren't there

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I love you blindly
I can't see, can't find my way
I need you badly
I won't last another day
Oh you're my heartbeat
I beg you
Don't let it end
I love you blindly
Help me find my way again
~~*~~
(woman sings)
Oh Babe I wasn't ready
The truth is I'm scared to death
I'll change if I can keep you
All alone there's nothing left
(man sings)
Oh maybe I just scared you
And I pray it's not too late
Babe you can take forever
I won't let you walk away
~~~* Final Chorus*~~~
I love you blindly
Couldn't see or find my way
Needed you badly
Wouldn't last another day
Oh you're my heartbeat
There's no way
For this to end
I love you blindly
But I've found my way again
~~*~~

Hmm, hmm, hmm
I know you see...
I Love you blindly
~~*~~

A DADDY DEAL

I went to pick my date up
The dance started at eight
Her Daddy opened up the door
And put me in my place

He said that they aren't kidding
When they mention Dads and guns
If this girl wasn't so special
I’d have turned around and run

He said you go straight to the dance
And don’t you leave that school
I’ll put you in a body bag
If you don’t follow my rules

~~~*Chorus*~~~
It was so hot that the floor was burning
Underneath my feet
All I wanted was to dance with her
And all I got was heat
When I grow up I’m having daughters
When the time to have them comes
So my boys won’t have to deal with Daddies
Like my Father’s Son
~~*~~
She looked like a Goddess
Coming down the stairs
I wanted to kiss her badly
But her Daddy was right there
Her mama wanted pictures
Of her daughter's special night
I went to put my arm around her
But I held them at my side
Her Daddy’s eyes said try it
But I couldn't take the chance
That he would twist my arm off
So that we would miss the dance
~~~*Chorus*~~~
It was so hot that the floor was burning
Underneath my feet
All I wanted was to dance with her
And all I got was heat
When I grow up I’m having daughters
When the time to have them comes
So my boys won’t have to deal with Daddies
Like my Father’s Son
~~*~~

Oh he left an impression
I could barely hold my date
All I saw were body bags
Surely not her pretty face

She said just take me home please
I’m getting used to this
I’ll call you in the morning
Go ahead give me a kiss

She said I know he scared you
And I’m sure he mentioned death
Daddy’s are protective
I said Yes, let me confess

~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
It was so hot that the floor was burning
Underneath my feet
All I wanted was to dance with you
And all I got was heat
When I grow up I’m having daughters
When the time to have them comes
So my boys won’t have to deal with Daddies
Like my Father’s Son
