LISTEN

Listen...

Can’t you hear my heart shattering
Echoing across the room
I am doing everything I can
To shield my tears from you

My very spirit’s interlaced
With every ardent song I sing
I am pouring out my heart
And you’re not listening

See my eyes so full of hurt
Unshed tears that glisten
Hear what I am feeling
Listen...

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Listen and I’ll draw you to me
Empty out your cluttered mind
Saturate it with my music
Be immortal for a time
Show you how to establish
Compassion born of pain
You will be a captive
Music’s bound, enchanted slave
Oh….  Yes…. It beckons…
Listen…
~~*~~
Can you hear the desperation
Can you hear the claims of faith
The yearning for everlasting love
The world’s revenge and hate
The generous souls, and growing old,
The dregs, and blind ambitions
You won’t hear a thing
The tales I sing
If you don’t connect
To listen…
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Listen to the magic I am sharing with you now
Let it infiltrate you, just relax and allow
Skim the seas, on eagle’s wings
Abandon and diverge
Listen to the lyrics
Absorb them,  every word
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Listen and I’ll draw you to me
Empty out your cluttered mind
Saturate it with my music
Be immortal for a time
Show you how to establish
Compassion born of pain
You will be a captive
Music’s bound, enchanted slave
Oh….  Yes…. It beckons…
Listen…
~~*~~
JUST A GAME
Playing?
You were playing?
Well, I am glad you had your fun
Lying
I call it Lying
When you pretend to love someone
Leaving?
Now you are leaving?
You don't care how I feel
Tell me
Won't you tell me
In your game, was one thing real
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Were you playing when you held me
Promised not to break my heart
Were the cards all stacked against me
Did you plan this from the start
Were you lying when you told me
That to love me was your fate
I was dreaming up our future
But to you
It was
A game
~~*~~

Taken
Taken for a fool
I hung on every word you said
Foolish
I was so foolish
I should have walked away instead
Lonely
I was so lonely
The perfect mark for your game
Leave me
Go on and leave me
Leave me crying, loss and shame

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
You were playing, you were lying, now your leaving
Tell me please
I was taken, I was foolish, so damned lonely
Can't you see
You could stay here, and keep playing, be a winner
In your game
You have hurt me, but I need you , my love's stronger
Than the shame
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Were you playing when you held me
Promised not to break my heart
Were the cards all stacked against me
Did you plan this from the start
Were you lying when you told me
That to love me was your fate
I was dreaming up our future
But to you
It was
A game

YOUR KIND OF PRISON

I have never lived
In your kind of prison
I have never felt
The sorrow you've concealed

You've broken free
Of the pain that held you
Sheer will has bent
Confining bars of steel

~~~*Chorus*~~~
couldn't be more thankful
For the release of a soul
God has taken all the pieces
Molded them into a whole
I thought we were alike
Faith, love, and ambition
But I have never lived
In your kind of prison
~~*~~
I would not survive
In your kind of prison
I’d have given up
Fallen to that hell
We are different
You did not surrender
Warred with the torture
Won, and released yourself
~~~Lyrical Bridge*~~~
I am humbled by the power
That you have inside of you
Am in awe of your battle
Can’t believe what you've been through
I’m so relieved you fought through grief
I applaud your hopes and visions
It won’t be hard, you've beat the bars
Of your kind of prison
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
couldn't be more thankful
For the release of a soul
God has taken all the pieces
Molded them into a whole
I thought we were alike
Faith, love, and ambition
But I have never lived
In your kind of prison
A MIGHTY ROPE
Let’s all braid the strings together
Until we've made a rope
It will be strong, and last as long
As we don’t give up hope
There’s no such thing, as a frail string
When the sturdy reinforce the weak
The ones that are bad, that fray, and snap
Are blind to the technique
The way to go, combine, and grow
Is with a mighty rope
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Watch out for the nimble fingers
Going for the knot
Keep your distance from the blades
And fires that burn too hot
We’ll surround them while they’re idle
Bind them as they sleep
Strangle out their noxious power
Promises they didn't keep
There’s always hope
With a mighty rope
~~*~~

For every strand that stands alone
Praying justice will be won
We’ll weave them in, as worthy kin
Be sovereign when we’re done
Constrict the foul arms of deceit
Summon up the cause for hope
"We the people”, of this Nation
Are a mighty rope

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Compatriots are all around
We can’t win if we remain unbound
We must strike like the stone of David
Pull Goliath to the ground
Good men wait for the right to take
The power from our foe
“We the people” of this Nation
Are a mighty rope
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Watch out for the nimble fingers
Going for the knot
Keep your distance from the blades
And fires that burn too hot
We’ll surround them while they’re idle
Bind them as they sleep
Strangle out their noxious power
Promises they didn't keep
There’s always hope
With a mighty rope

SCANDAL AND SHAME

Such a scandal
Such a shame
Who’s the traitor
What’s his name
~~*~~

We all have options
Fancy your choice
Choose to be silent
Or to use your voice

Inspire tribute
For another’s gain
When being loyal
Is your only aim

Oh, but be careful
What you proclaim
To savor slander
Is the devil’s way

Live free of remorse
Be clear of blame
Avoid the scandals
Evade the shame

~~~*1st Chorus*~~~
Such a scandal
Such a shame
To discredit
To defame
Cripple lives
And blacken names
Such a scandal
Such a shame
~~*~~
So are you righteous
Are you corrupt
Are your own problems
Challenging enough
Are you the master
Of the life you reign
Do you feel compassion
For your neighbors pain
Are you immoral
Or more humane
Embrace the damage
Or cast the blame
~~~*~~~
Cause the scandal
Invite the shame
~~*~~

~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
To applaud them
To acclaim
Exaltation
Bestowing praise
Raising hope
And lifting blame
From the scandal
From the shame
~~*~~
~~*Finale*~~
Promote and uphold
Incite the truth
Only good things
Are ahead of you
~~*~~
Choose your weapon
Be wrong or right
Falsely slander
You’ll pay the price
~~*~~
SO AMAZING
It was getting pretty black outside
The darkness
Here on earth
Was closing in…
Just when I thought
I could take no more
Amazing showed up
Abolished what was dim
~~~*Chorus*~~~
You make life shine
With that noble heart
It opens up the skies
And banishes the dark
Here I am saying
 Yes relaying
That you’re amazing
So amazing
~~*~~

I related to your human side
The saintly
At the time
Would not have worked
 So when it broke through
I was already hooked
Amazing showed up
And amazing's all it took

~~~*Chorus*~~~
You make life shine
With that noble heart
It opens up the skies
And banishes the dark
Here I am saying
Yes... relaying
That you’re amazing
So amazing
~~*~~
~~~*Finale*~~~
May God bless you for the friend you've been to me
I know that He lives in your heart
Thanks for sharing Him with me
The darkness ebbs, and you blaze through
Represent Him blindingly
You're amazing
So amazing
~~*~~

For my Friend Rhoda Joy
May EVERYONE realize
what I know...You're
Amazing !
Love, Teresa

YES WE DO

As we marry our hearts today
And combine our families
As we clasp our hands together
Lovingly exchange our rings

~~~*Chorus*~~~
My Love I Vow
Before the Lord above
To always listen
To Comfort
And to Love
You'll be there for me
I'll be there for you
We'll both be there for Him
Yes, we do
~~*~~
Every challenge that may test us
Every blessing He bestows
As we travel down life's highway
And the Faith within us grows
May we face this life together
With sweet laughter in our souls
Trusting in the Lord to lead us
Never two halves, but a whole
~~~*Chorus*~~~
My Love I Vow
Before the Lord above
To always listen
To Comfort
And to Love
You'll be there for me
I'll be there for you
We'll both be there for Him
Yes, we do
~~*~~

~~~*Finale*~~~
You Love Me...
I Love You...
Thanks to the Lord
We Do
~~*~~
I AM NOT BRAVE
As the night moves in, I must suppress
The thought of you next to me
Take a sleeping pill, and close my eyes
Find an escape through my dreams...
Where I am free falling without a chute
Walking city streets alone
Dancing with wild animals
Scaling great walls of stone
I jump from trees, with no piles of leaves
Leap the cars of moving trains
Say goodbye to dreams, and fantasies
Waking next to you again
Imagination Staved
I am not Brave
To be strong, I'd have to break my vows
And I just can't do that yet
Though I feel so cold, because I know
You've crossed lines I can't forget
At times, for a fleeting moment
The anger slaps the weak
But the only time I'm truly brave
Is in my dreams, when I sleep
Where I'm behind the wheel, racing a car
Void of fear, swimming with the sharks
Tempting lightning, in a rainstorm
Horror movies in the dark
Vacation in a foreign Country
Going wild with my friends
Say goodbye to dreams and fantasies
Waking next to you again
Imagination Staved
I am not brave
No I'm not brave
Only when I dream
I am not brave
Brave enough to leave
GET AWAY
I was raised a city girl
My whole life I’ve been confined
Daddy said there’s nothing for me
Out in the countryside
Just a bunch of hayseeds
Inept and unrefined
Don’t glamorize unsuitable
But stick with your own kind
There’s a stagnant obstruction
I feel strangled and restrained
I left a note and all I wrote
Is I have to GET AWAY
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Get away
Make a break for it, escape
Freedom
To refuse to be detained
Survive
Some do not, if they stay
Get away
Get away
~~*~~
I found myself a hayseed
He comes with a PHD
My Daddy phoned, yelled get back home
And face reality

I met a pretty Amish girl
At the store the other day
Her eyes were sad, she felt it bad
The need to get away
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Get away
Make a break for it, escape
Freedom
To refuse to be detained
Survive
Some do not, if they stay
Get away
Get away
~~*~~
I worked things out with Daddy
Yeah my room is hers to grab
Then he laughed and said a Doctor’s
A brilliant hick to have
~~~*Finale*~~~
She adores the city
And I the countryside
She loves all the buildings
I crave the open skies
Everyone is happy
That things turned out this way
You can make it happen
Just have to get away
Get away
~~*~~

ALWAYS THERE FOR US

Recall a soothing voice
A reassuring smile
Such gentle hands that wiped away
The tears of a crying child

Held in your tender arms
For stories you’d compile
An old lady off to market
With a stubborn pig and sty

I sat there in wonder
Reached up to touch your face
You smiled at me so lovingly
And you still do to this day

~~~*Chorus*~~~
You hugged and kissed us every night
We said our prayers, turned out the light
Never thought of being scared
When we woke up, you were always there
Now that is something most kids just can’t say
You were there for us
Always there for us
In every way
~~*~~
Taught us to write our names
And how to tie our shoes
You fixed our hair, and kept us clean
Always put us before you
Never doubted your love
We never heard you yell
You would shield us from the hard times
Assured us that all was well
We couldn’t love you more
So proud that you’re our Mom
See us through everything we do
As the years keep pressing on
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
I am thanking God, and that’s the truth
Forever grateful that he gave us you
And you’re whole life you’ve sacrificed
Always put us first, without thinking twice
We know that we are blessed, Mom, every day
There’s so much more that I could say
You are there for us
Always there for us
In every way
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
You hugged and kissed us every night
We said our prayers, turned out the light
Never thought of being scared
When we woke up, you were always there
Now that is something most kids just can’t say
You were there for us
Always there for us
In every way
WORDS DON'T HURT YOU
Please stop
Don’t you know how deep it wounds me
It’s not true
No, it’s not true
That words don’t hurt you
I have tried
Why do you corrupt the way I feel
Don’t you know…oh
Given the choice
I’d chose the sticks and stones
I’d have the chance to fend them off
And we all know bruises heal
Sticks and stones
 No big deal
But your message
Oh, my heart won’t make it through
 It’s not true
No it’s not true
That words don’t hurt you
~~~*Chorus*~~~
There will come a point, when you will cross that line
And unleash the wrath, building up inside
And that is something you don't want to do
People drown
Tempting thin ice
Once they've fallen through
It's not true
No it's not true
That words don't hurt you
~~*~~

I have heard
When a person is unhappy
They lash out
So that must be…
What this is all about

Please listen
You’re not hurting who you want
It’s just me
And I believe
You’ll stop when you see

That my heart…
Oh, it just won’t make it through
 It’s not true
No it’s not true
That words don’t hurt you

~~~*Chorus*~~~
There will come a point, when you will cross that line
And unleash the wrath, building up inside
And that is something you don't want to do
People drown
Tempting thin ice
Once they've fallen through
It's not true
No it's not true
That words don't hurt you
LIGHTEN UP
Hey lighten up…
It’s getting hard to breathe
With the weight of  this depression
Bearing
             Down
                        On
                               Me…
Oh yeah things suck
You know it could be worse
You could be a war-torn Country
Just
       Think
                  In
                       Reverse
With doom and gloom
It’s difficult to smile
So do something, or lighten up
Back
         Off
               For
                      Awhile
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Lighten up and just be thankful
That you’re free to complain
That you have a home and family
A reason to celebrate
Think of the men who fight, who've died
To make your life this way
Lighten up and let me breathe
If only for today
~~*~~

Hey lighten up…
It’s getting hard to breathe
With the strain of vexation
That’s
           Smothering
                                 Me

Things will work out
Somehow they always do
You have to hit your lowest point
Grasp
           What
                     You've
                                  Been
                                             Through

So be quiet please
I feel like I could break
Trying to live with all the noise
So
    Many
             People
                        Make

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
So much controversy
Too crazy, I can’t think
I want to smile for a little while
Life’s over in a blink
I would like some peace
Could you all back up
Be thankful, lighten up
Yeah, lighten up
~~*~~
~~~*Final Chorus*~~~
Lighten up and just be thankful
That you’re free to complain
That you have a home and family
On this Independence day
Think of the men who fight, who've died
To make your life this way
Lighten up and let me breathe
If only for today
~~*~~

EMBRACING PORTLAND

I am humbled
Wonder-struck again
Every time I stumble
I'm righted by a friend

You were needed
Were right there for me
So I grabbed your lifeline
And you pulled me free

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I sense the darkness trying to hold me tight
You feel it too, and pull with all your might
Tell me not to let go, it will be alright
Yeah, I'm embracing Portland tonight
~~*~~
You're the water
Yeah, you end my thirst
When life's a barren field
Full of rocks and dirt
So unselfish
There to help me out
My ladder from the pit
Brimming with fear and doubt
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
I'm embracing Portland
She's my champion now
Defeated hesitation
Yeah, she struck it down
I will run with winds
Over hallowed ground
echo....hallowed ground...
It can be done
Embracing Portland
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I sense the darkness trying to hold me tight
You feel it too, and pull with all your might
Tell me not to let go, it will be alright
Yeah, I'm embracing Portland tonight
DEATH THE THIEF
Hmm, Hmm, Hmm…
Thinking of you
Your absence here on Earth
Hmm, Hmm, Hmm…
Searching for comfort
Your Heavenly rebirth
Oh, Oh, Oh….
Tears unabated
Heart Broken with the grief
No, No, No…
It can’t be over
I curse you death
The thief…
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Stolen Young...
Sobbing the last words
How Much I Love You
Now nothing could be worse...
~~*~~

Help me Lord…
I can’t control this grief...
Go on without Him
Denying death
The thief
~~*~~

Oh, Oh, Oh…
Where is my hero
Find him, that's my request
No, No, No…
How could this happen
Good Guys protect the rest
Ah, Ah, Ah…
I know he’s with You
Oh forgive me please
Hmm, Hmm, Hmm
I want to blame You
So I'll blame death
The thief

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
 I am right here, demanding answers,
God, I just want him back
He was far too young to take away
Why Lord, that’s all I ask
My Faith is strong, and I will go on
When I've laid him to rest
I'm sorry that I blamed you Lord
For the thief
That I call death
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Stolen Young...
Sobbing the last words
How Much I Love You
Now nothing could be worse...
~~*~~

Help me Lord
I can’t control this grief...
Go on without Him
Denying death
The thief
~~*~~
