Kennedy airport
2:30 a.m.
Waiting at gate 12 C
Roses in his hands
Every plane has landed
Passengers all gone
But he waits on...
Employees, they stare
He's been here before
Returns to the same gate
This year it makes four
They whisper his story
Tears create a blur
As he waits on...
He waits for her
~~~*Chorus*~~~
While she lies in a graveyard
He stands at a gate
The war, it dared to claim her
And the broken man who waits
Every year the circled date
Blinds him that she is gone
He occupies the empty gate
And he waits on...
Kennedy airport
9:30 a.m.
People rush to gate C
And have to push past him
Finally he gives up
Mind starting to clear
Looks around him numbly
She's not here
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
She died fighting terror
And he battles it each day
Can't conceive the truth to be
The war ripped her away
He can't function anymore
Lord, he barely breathes
His eyes focus through the pain
On gate 12 C
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
While she lies in a graveyard
He stands at a gate
The war, it dared to claim her
And the broken man who waits
Every year the circled date
Blinds him that she is gone
He occupies the empty gate
And he waits on...
