SPARE THE ROD

I used to make my Mama mad
Throwing fits and being bad
She counted out her 1, 2, 3’s
Then she came right after me
Hurt to sit right after that
But I quit throwing fits real fast

I wasn't even in my teens
When aliens invaded me
Every time I used my mouth
Something foreign shot right out
Mama fought them with a smack
They left and never did come back

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Thank God for Mamas
Who Love their Kids enough
What some folks call abuse now
I’ll always call tough Love
I’m not saying to beat your kids
There’s a line that you can cross
If you want your brats to run the house
Go ahead and spare the rod
~~*~~
I was cared for always praised
Had what I needed in every way
I said No Thank You and Yes Please
Learned what respect is meant to be
No arguing or talking back
My Folks would never stand for that
You let them tell you what to do
Disrespect and step all over you
What you’re doing's not enough
Be a parent and use tough love
The Kids now days are out of hand
So get your heads out of the sand
Do a favor for mankind
Be the parents and make them mind!
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Thank God
For Mama’s
Who Love their Kids enough
What some folks call abuse now
I’ll always call tough love
I’m not saying to beat your kids
There’s a line that you can cross
If you want your brats to run the house
Go ahead and spare the rod
~~*~~

~~~*Finale*~~~
Don’t blame it on society
Education or lack of God
When your kids can’t be handled
You’re the ones who spared the rod
~~*~~
