EASY PREY

The waves are pounding...
They are breaking free...
And they're surrounding...
You unmercifully...
Where's the stronghold
From unrelenting storms
Why did you let go
What did you do that for...

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Baby you're exposed
Standing right in front
You've compromised the game
And destroyed the hunt
Should have stayed with me
But oh, you had to play
Well it's over now
You're just easy prey
~~*~~
The Ground's dividing
Splitting right in two
And it's consuming
All that's left of you
Where's the high ground
Protection from the wrath
You're blinded to it
Why did you turn your back
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Baby you're exposed
Standing right in front
You've compromised the game
And destroyed the hunt
Should have stayed with me
But oh, you had to play
Well it's over now
You're just easy prey
~~*~~

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
The prize has faded
Used and cast away
There is no challenge
You're just easy prey
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Baby you're exposed
Standing right in front
You've compromised the game
And destroyed the hunt
Should have stayed with me
But oh, you had to play
Well it's over now
You're just easy prey
~~*~~

GET READY L.A.

I came into this world
Never knew my Mom
Left me in that hospital
The day that I was born
Raised by Sister Mary
A fire and brimstone Nun
No, life in a convent
Ain't fun for anyone
The day I turned 18
Finally free and clear
Hugged Sister Mary
Didn't shed a tear

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Get ready L.A.
I was set free today
And I have never lived
I'm gonna rock the City of Angels
And find out what it's got to give
Get ready L.A.
I am alive today
All pumped up on this high
Chasing hope in the City of Angels
Gonna set these dreams on fire
~~*~~
Was reminded daily
Of every wicked sin
 Never let them scare me
I put my Faith in Him
They didn't raise no Angel
And I'm not going to lie
I have sins on my list
That I can't wait to try
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Get ready L.A.
I was set free today
And I have never lived
I'm gonna rock the City of Angels
And find out what it's got to give
Get ready L.A.
I am alive today
All pumped up on this high
Chasing hope in the City of Angels
Gonna set these dreams on fire
~~*~~

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
San Fernando Valley
Come on, let's have some fun
I'm knocking off # 1
Before the day is done
Beverly Hills, let's go
Gonna hit the music scene
Yeah, I was a choir boy
And I know how to sing
Onward to Hollywood
And then to Malibu
Gonna do some star walking
And try out surfing too
Yeah...
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Get ready L.A.
I was set free today
And I have never lived
I'm gonna rock the City of Angels
And find out what it's got to give
Get ready L.A.
I am alive today
All pumped up on this high
Chasing hope in the City of Angels
Gonna set these dreams on fire

NEW YORK LIFE

You brag about your western sunsets
Try to hook me on the mountain air
Add a river running through a forest
You'd say anything to get me there
The bugle of an elk break the silence
The smell of the Ponderosa pine
Walking a path never traveled
Well for you...
That might be right...

~~~*Chorus*~~~
But for me
That's too much peace
I prefer a sound release
A concert with a thousand fans
Screaming for more
Bodies dancing, waving hands
I'm breathing the smog
Pulsing neon lights
You can do your mountains
I'll do New York life
~~*~~
You want to drag me to the ocean
Hear the rhythm of the constant waves
That fresh salty scent all around us
Exploring the beaches and the caves
Fishing and hunting for seashells
Umbrellas and children flying kites
No worries pressing us forward
Maybe to you...
That sounds fine...
~~~*Chorus*~~~
But to me
That's too much peace
I prefer a sound release
A concert with a thousand fans
Screaming for more
Bodies dancing, waving hands
I'm breathing the smog
Pulsing neon lights
You can do your Ocean
I'll do New York life
~~*~~

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
I couldn't give up "Dizzy's"
When I want some Jazz
Gotta have "Gothams"
When I need to laugh
"BB King's: for a night of Blues
"Pier 54's" where I cut loose
~~*~~
~~~*Finale*~~~
Yeah, for me
Don't need the peace
Give me a screaming crowd
you do your havens and your getaways
I crave the music and the sounds
I'm breathing the smog
Pulsing neon lights
You do what you want to
I'll do New York Life
~~*~~

FIGHTING FATE

Sweet Soldier of mine
In this picture behind glass
Out the window this morning
I watched our Daughter dancing in the grass
She was spinning, and laughing
Then she curtsied towards the gate
She looked like she was playing
But she was fighting fate

~~~*Chorus*~~~
She always plays
Everyday with you
She just needs
A little time
We laid to rest a Soldier
But Daddy's still here
In her mind
~~*~~
When I put her to bed at night
She always has to kiss me twice
Whispers "This one's for you Daddy"
Then kisses me one more time
I can't get her to eat breakfast
Without a place set at your chair
Then she laughs like I remember
Fights fate, and puts you there
~~~*Chorus*~~~
She always plays
Everyday with you
She just needs
A little time
We laid to rest a Soldier
But Daddy's still here
In her mind
~~*~~

When fate reveals your deepest fears
Thoughts can't be defined
I caress your picture
You're still here in her mind
~~*~~

DEFINE GENIUS!

You know your constellations
All the planets proved by man
Have studied every concept
On how this world began

They've added your name
To the list of high IQ's
Well here's a revelation
I'm presenting it to you

~~~*Chorus*~~~
You
Are
A genius
You've been certified
There's not a theory
That you haven't tried
You're a regular Einstein
It can't be denied
You know everything
About everything
But nothing about life
~~*~~
We can't go for a walk
Without a study of the dirt
You don't eat a thing until
You've analyzed it first
Everything's methodical
Nothing's done by chance
Here you go Mr. Newton
The definition of romance
I'm wanting an adventure
To be tested physically
Is that descriptive enough
To tempt you logically
Define for me devotion,
Passion, and yearning love
Ardor and intensity
Heat, fire, and burning lust
Have I illustrated clearly
Did I finally succeed
Can you process with clarity
The basics of my needs
~~~*Chorus*~~~
For...
You
Are
A genius
You've been certified
There's not a theory
That you haven't tried
You're a regular Einstein
It can't be denied
You know everything
About everything
But nothing about life

SHALLOW ROOTS

You weren't born in the town...where you grew up
But you put down roots, and that was good enough
Cause everybody knows...ya'll know
When you put down roots... things grow

~~~*1st Chorus*~~~
I'll be back
That's what you tell yourself
But the guy you find
His roots are somewhere else
So you go where this life takes you
Oh...shallow roots
~~*~~
When things seem the worst...you relive the best
Start calling up old friends, who have never left
Cause everybody knows...ya'll know
Where the roots are deep...that's home
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
I'll be back
That's what you tell yourself
But a brand new job
It leads you someplace else
And the baby's almost due
More shallow roots
~~*~~

You just can't be happy, and you're placing blame
On the man you love ...keeping you away
But everybody knows...You know...
It's time for new roots....to grow

~~~*Finale*~~~
You go back
And not by yourself
A sweet baby boy
A man who's been through Hell
Say goodbye to what's holding you
Those shallow roots
~~*~~
Oh...everybody knows...ya'll know
Where the roots are deep...That's home
Entirely up to you....
Those shallow roots....
I CAN BE...
Can I be your coffee in the morning
I've heard you say you need it to survive
Can I be the wine in the glass you're holding
The sweet liquid that helps you sleep at night
Can I be the gentle wind that's flowing
Caressing every move your body makes
Can I be the solution to your problem
Yeah, the right man replacing your mistake
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Oh I can be
These things you need
What you crave
All you require
Baby I can be
These things you need
Every ache, thirst, and desire
What you covet
Long for
Your dreams
I can be
These things you need
~~*~~

I can be the valid love that conquers
That forgery who holds you in the night
I can be the pedestal that lifts you
He strives to cast a shadow on your light

I can be the roots girl that you draw from
Yeah, giving you the nourishment to bloom
He's tried to cut the vital stem that feeds you
To devour the fare you must consume

~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
Baby I can be everything you dream
Shake off the anchor and swim
I can be, the rescue ship at sea
That sails you away from him
Open up your heart and see
What I can be...
~~*~~
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Oh I can be
These things you need
What you crave
All you require
Baby I can be
These things you need
Every ache, thirst, and desire
What you covet
Long for
Your dreams
I can be
These things you need

DIFFERENT TEARS

If you think I am unhappy...you don't know me
You'll have to ask someone who has for years
I've never tried to hide my emotions
And there are so many different tears

So you saw me crying in the garden
You didn't ask, so you wouldn't know
I was overwhelmed by the beauty
And I was born a reverent soul

If you want to call me crazy...think about it
Before you slander me before our peers
I could turn around and call you callous
But I'll just explain the different tears

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I laughed so hard
I laughed so hard I cried
I'm hit with pain
Sob when a Loved one dies
I was touched
That you would think me Dear
I can't express
The awe I'm feeling here
I am amazed
Sweet music that I hear
So I shed them
I shed these different tears
~~*~~
Maybe you are not sympathetic
Some harden their hearts to stave the pain
I'm not the kind to wallow in my misery
I cry it out... embracing life again
So you don't appreciate a visual treasure
Or admire the pure miracle of birth
Well I'd rather be a weeping Lover
Than a hater wandering this earth
If you have no honest sense of pleasure
What will motivate you through the years
How can you truly wonder why I'm crying
When pity is just different tears
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I laughed so hard
I laughed so hard I cried
I'm hit with pain
Sob when a Loved one dies
I was touched
That you would think me Dear
I can't express
The awe I'm feeling here
I am amazed
Sweet music that I hear
So I shed them
I shed these different tears
~~*~~

How can you wonder why I am crying
When Pity is just different tears

DANIELLE STEEL

I slid between the cotton sheets
With a book by Danielle Steel
It was a picture perfect day
And now I had time to kill

Just getting to a revelation
When I heard a noise outside
I looked out my bedroom window
Just the neighbors in another fight

Oh, but this time it was different
He had his hands around her throat
I muttered... that’s it mister
While I was putting on my robe

I came around the corner
Yelled get your hands off her
He sneered, mind your own business
What happened next was just a blur

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I whacked him right upside the head
With a book by Danielle Steel
Asked his wife if he was dead
She choked "It’s no big deal"
Thought ,dang I haven’t finished this
Hope they don’t take it as evidence
Right then he began to moan…
I made sure she was in control
Said kick him if even groans
She smiled and said I will...
Thanks
It's been real
Thanks to you and Danielle Steel
~~*~~
The next morning, the neighbor,
She was knocking on my door
Told me they arrested him
She’d be needing me in court
Sitting on the witness stand
An impeding sense of dread
Staring at my neighbor
With a bandage on his head
The judge said tell your story
About what happened please
I said I was just reading
Snuggled in my cotton sheets
I looked out my window
Because I heard a noise
He was choking his wife sir
I didn't have much choice
So...
~~~*Chorus*~~~
I whacked him right upside the head
With a book by Danielle Steel
Asked his wife if he was dead
She choked "It’s no big deal"
Thought ,dang I haven’t finished this
Hope they don’t take it as evidence
Right then he began to moan…
I made sure she was in control
Said kick him if even groans
She smiled and said I will....
Thanks, it's been real
Thanks to you and Danielle Steel
~~*~~

The judge pronounced him guilty
He growled …“I’ll just appeal!”…
I reached into my handbag
And flashed him some Danielle steel…..

I CAN'T FIND YOU

I can't find you
Baby, where can you be
I keep looking
Everybody's helping me

Time is crawling
I'm not breathing right
Someone slapped me
God, was that me who cried

You said you'd meet me
I waited half-way
Getting worried
As blackness ate the day

I walked further
Knocked on your door
Your Mom looked puzzled
Asked, what'd you do that for

And she looked past me
Shoved me aside
Asked, where's my baby
I was scared, but didn't lie

~~~*Chorus*~~~
I can't find her
She has disappeared
I've been looking for her
Thought I might find her here
She didn't answer
I kept trying to call
This isn't like her
Not like her at all
~*~
Your Mom kept talking
But nothing came through
Or I just missed it
Cause I can't find you
~~*~~
The cop said buddy
You need to get some sleep
And I panicked
God, what does that mean
The sun is rising
I just don't understand
I must be dying
Cause something hurts so bad
I looked at him
At least I think I did
And I whispered
Or maybe shouted this...
~~~*2nd Chorus*~~~
I can't find her
She has disappeared
I've been looking for her
Thought I might find her here
She didn't answer
I kept trying to call
This isn't like her
Not like her at all
~*~
The cop kept talking
But nothing came through
Or I just missed it
Cause I can't find you
~~*~~

He said I'll drive you
I said I'm walking home
Baby I called you
That's when I heard your phone

In the distance
Somewhere in the grass
They all came running
And someone held me back

God,  they confirmed it
Right there in front of me
Baby we found you...
Was that me who screamed...

~~~*Finale*~~~
I can't find you
You have disappeared
I've been looking for you
I need you to be here
I can't find you
 I'll keep trying to call
Cause I can't find you
I can't find you at all...
THE BRIDGE OF STONE
His family called it ritual
When dinner time was done
He would row their old boat
Up-river towards the sun
They never questioned him
As they prepared for bed
He needed the freedom
They believed every word he said
~~~*Music*~~~

As the sun was going down
She kissed her Ma and Pa
Took her shawl, from the hook
And began her nightly walk

Wandered to the bridge of stone
In the silence, closed her eyes
Waiting for his presence to
Invade the peace of night

~~~*Chorus*~~~
And he always came...
Her heart would overflow
When shadows turned...
Into her lover's form
Oh...oh...oh...
On the bridge of stone
His smile chased away the evening's gloom...
And her laughter lit the moon
Oh...oh...oh...
On the bridge of stone
Two separate hearts
Became one
On the bridge
On the bridge of stone
~~*~~
They both needed each other
Like you must breathe to live
And they went undiscovered
The young lovers on the bridge
~~~*Music*~~

Her Pa said the mine was closed
That there was nothing left
They were leaving at first light
Joining wagons headed West

She stumbled from the cabin
Tears rendering her blind
Sorrow posed a question
Could she leave her heart behind

~~~*Chorus*~~~
And he always came...
Her heart would overflow
When shadows turned...
Into her lover's form
Oh...oh...oh...
On the bridge of stone
His smile chased away the evening's gloom
And her laughter lit the moon
Oh...oh...oh...
On the bridge of stone
Two separate hearts
Became one
On the bridge
On the bridge of stone
~~*~~
There weren't any options
For them to grab and hold
They made love for the last time
On the bridge of stone
~~~*Lyrical Bridge*~~~
He said God will understand...
He'll forgive us for our sins
Looked into her eyes so blue
Cursed the color of his skin
He held his only treasure
And whispered let's go home
They left this world together
Falling from the bridge of stone..
~~*~~

~~~*Chorus*~~~
And he always came...
Her heart would overflow
When shadows turned...
Into her lover's form
Oh...oh...oh...
On the bridge of stone
His smile chased away the evening's gloom
And her laughter lit the moon
Oh...oh...oh...
On the bridge of stone
Two separate hearts
Became one
On the bridge
On the bridge of stone
I SAY ...MAKE THEM PAY
I'm losing faith in humanity
Crying so hard that I can't see
Another poor child found in a ditch
I just don't think I can handle this
Millions of people in the USA
Over 2,000 children taken every day
Why aren't these kids on every magazine
Faces covering the TV screen
It's time to dispose of the worthless dregs
Find the only hope for a better way
Fools are setting these monsters free
To prey on our children as they please
I SAY...
Bring back the good old days
Chain them up and make them slave
Shoot them like the animals they became
If they even try to get away
Let them beat each other into the ground
Screw the bleeding hearts freaking out
Take away every human right
They're nothing but a waste of life
I SAY...
MAKE THEM PAY!
You ignorant people who defend this filth
Knowing they do it of their own free will
I think you should be forced to view every child
Who's been murdered, tortured, or defiled
When you let another sex offender go
To abuse again, and they will you know
Go see the broken child and comfort them
Before you find another demon to defend
I SAY...
MAKE THEM PAY!
I'm so sick of the idiots screaming "That's not fair!"
They are perverted freaks, so tell me why you care
You let them cry injustice, give the right to sue
THEY TOOK A CHILD'S LIFE!!!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?
I SAY...
Bring back the good old days
Chain them up and make them slaves
Shoot them like the animals they became
If they even try to get away
Let them beat each other into the ground
Screw the bleeding hearts freaking out
Take away every human right
They're nothing but a waste of life
I SAY...
MAKE THEM PAY!
If you've read my song
And think it's inhumane
Go tell the child's family
Why you feel this way!!!
HEY THIEF...
I can't believe how long
I've let you steal from me
Plundering my days
Embezzling my dreams
You're like that leaf on a tree
That just will not fall off
I summon a tornado
But you keep holding on
A pebble lodged in the rocks
Unable to pry out
Blocking my path
No alternative route
~~~*Chorus*~~~
Hey
Thief
Don't steal from me
I can't afford your memory
I'm innocent
I want released
Why must I pay this penalty
Hey
Thief
Hey Thief...
Don't you steal...
Don't you steal from me
~~*~~

You have swiped everything
Everything I've got
A toy without stuffing
Is just a piece of cloth

But you won't kidnap my future
As you have my past
That kind of ransom
Is far too much to ask

You've done all the damage
I will let you do
I was never sacred
To a thief like you

~~~*Chorus*~~~
Hey
Thief
Don't steal from me
I can't afford your memory
I'm innocent
I want released
Why must I pay this penalty
Hey
Thief
Hey Thief...
Don't you steal...
Don't you steal from me
~~*~~
HEAT IT UP
(Speak intro song)
What is your thermostat set at
Don’t feel like you want to discuss that
Some tell me it’s just not hot enough
Want to know
Do you want to know
How to turn that temperature up
Yeah?   Yeah?
Well…
You set it high with a pretty dress
Sub zero for those baggy sweats
If you want it smoking like a gun
Go put that sexy nightie on
Hair in a clip or teacher’s bun
Barely brings it past the one
Pull the pins, shake it wild and free
Girl, you’ll be busting mercury
(speak this line)   What heats it up …really heats it up
~~~*Chorus*~~~
A man likes color on those lips
A little swaying of the hips
A lady in the public eye
But take him home and don’t be shy
Show him that you know your stuff
Girl that is how you heat it up
~~*~~

If the thermostat gets stuck
Suggest a long drive in his truck
Feel the burn ignite the spark
Find a private place to park

Then heat it up a little more
Show him what mother nature’s for
Now it’s reset and working good
Light a match and burn the woods

(speak this line)   What heats it up …really heats it up

~~~*Chorus*~~~
A man likes color on those lips
A little swaying of the hips
A lady in the public eye
But take him home and don’t be shy
Show him that you know your stuff
Girl that is how you heat it up
~~*~~
~~~*Finale*~~~
To keep that thermostat up high
Show him the hunger in your eyes
Remember girl, if it gets stuck
You know how to turn it up
~~*~~

SWEET MAHOGANY

My Grandpa was a farmer
And a carpenter by trade
There was not a place in Memphis
That didn't house something he'd made

He was a master craftsman
Every piece a work of art
His signature was somewhere
The letter L inside a heart

My Dad would take us to the farm
Every Fall when I was young
We stayed until school began
And the harvesting was done

I would go to Grandpa's shop
Nothing ever smelled so good
He taught me all the wonders
Of a simple piece of wood
 He said...

~~~*Chorus*~~~
This wood is like a woman
When you first fall a tree
It may be rough on the outside
The true beauty's underneath
You bring her home and love her Son
The outer layer strips away
In time you have a masterpiece
Proudly to display
Now I don't discount the Poplar or the Pine
But my Lily's sweet Mahogany
She gets prettier with time
~~*~~
Grandpa went all whimsical
That look entered his eyes
And I listened for the thousandth time
About how he'd claimed his Bride
He'd made a small cedar chest
Took it to the county fair
A young girl fell in love with it
She had daisies in her hair
He was seventeen
A hard working farmer's Son
Had her Southern heart won
By the time the day was done
Their house was full of beauty
Filled with his heirlooms
Crafted deep with love and pride
For his sweet Bride to use
 He said...
~~~*Chorus*~~~
This wood is like a woman
When you first fall a tree
It may be rough on the outside
The true beauty's underneath
You bring her home and love her son
The outer layer strips away
In time you have a masterpiece
Proudly to display
Now I don't discount the Poplar or the Pine
But my Lily's sweet Mahogany
She gets prettier with time
~~*~~

Grandma got sick last summer
Met my Parents at the farm
Went in to see my Grandma
Laying in my Grandpa's arms

She said take care of Grandpa
And the final words she spoke
He will be soft as cedar
But convince you he's an oak

I think about that mighty Oak
And his sweet Mahogany
As my fingers trace the heart
On this crib in the nursery

~~~*Chorus repeat*~~~
